There is a big difference between connecting it to a battery in the engine bay and a battery at the end of some jumper leads! That is a lot of extra resistance that is robbing the device of power! If that was connected direct to the car battery, that diesel would have started straight away.
@ontheroadwithjohn
@ontheroadwithjohn 2 жыл бұрын
Think your missing the point. The battery on the ground was flat so would not start the engine even if it was in the engine bay. I was just trying to avoid loosing the power on the radio in the car so I didnt have to stuff around finding the code. The jumper leads are big enough to start a truck so I would think they were good enough for this demonstrations. Thanks for watching.
@officialWWM
@officialWWM 2 жыл бұрын
@@ontheroadwithjohn no, the point is, if you connected the jump pack directly to the battery inside the engine bay, to a flat battery, it would start any engine. Adding in the extra resistance of the jumper cables really added an extra load on the battery pack. That’s why it struggled to start your truck the first time. That’s also the main reason why the jump cables on the battery pack are so short.

Absolutely agree with you, needed to put dead battery in the engine bay and connect it directly to the car, also the kings jump pack has a button on the plug of the alligator clips to provide higher output for 30 seconds..
@ontheroadwithjohn
@ontheroadwithjohn 2 жыл бұрын
@@davidterpstra1030 ok again you are missing my point. to put the dead battery into the engine bay I would have to remove the good one. this would then have a high chance of the memory of my radio and who knows what else to be lost which I would then have to find codes to re-entre them so they work. As for the button on the plug, I will have to have another look but Im pretty sure mine has no button on it. Its automatic.

Just bought one similar to your old jump starter but it has a lithium battery in it. I'm presuming the old one was a sealed lead acid. I needed one that would do both 12v for the 4x4 and 24v for the Coaster so I had to go with a more hefty version. Good that your new jump starter turned the V6 over. Worth keeping one of those in our daily driver I think.
@ontheroadwithjohn
@ontheroadwithjohn 2 жыл бұрын
Yes it was a sealed lead acid battery. I would like to have a 24 volt lithium battery one but if they are around I would think it would be pretty expensive. I think you would be pretty safe with this for your 4b

Great review John and it is good to see it turn over with a flat battery. I'm thinking of getting one for a Wireless/Portable water jerry can instead of just buying a battery bank so there are multiple uses for it! Keep up the good work! 🤙🏽

What jumper leads are you using? often they are only rated at 400amps meaning the car wont be receiving the full current
@ontheroadwithjohn
@ontheroadwithjohn 2 ай бұрын
I cant believe so many people are getting hung up on the jumper leads. Firstly I can start a truck on those leads, but that's not the point. The battery is actually stuffed. I know that, it was for demonstration only because I didn't want to take the good battery out of the car. This was explained in the video. But if there is resistance in the jumper leads then that would of effected the jump pack also, but yet it started anyway. I do appreciate your comments and for watching. I hope this clarifies a little bit

@ontheroadwithjohn
@ontheroadwithjohn Жыл бұрын
@@dedclownsRfunny Gday yes mate it comes with a 12v and 240v charger. The 12v can be plugged into any suitable 12v socket you would have in your car. Charging while the engine is running would be better than with the engine off as this would slightly flatten your start battery if thats the one its plugged into. If you have a second battery then there is no problem charging it with the engine off. Thanks for watching

Why did you need 3 batteries to jump a car when it's meant to be one jump starter
@ontheroadwithjohn
@ontheroadwithjohn 2 жыл бұрын
Gday not real sure what you mean by 3 batteries but ill take a guess. If Im wrong then let me know. There is my original battery that is in the car and disconnected as stated in the video. I used jumper leads to connect an old battery to the car. The other battery that is in the shot is not connected to the car. I was going to use that but it had no voltage in it and I was concerned that I may loos the stored data in the car if I disconnected my good on and used this, so I used another yellow battery that at least had some power in it. But at the time of testing for the video only the yellow battery was connected. Thanks for watching
