This is a product review of the Bluetti EB55 700W / 537Wh Portable Power Station. We are looking for a portable battery to expand our van life capabilities by being able to power travel kettles and cook all allowing us to do this using FREE power.
In this video we perform detailed practical tests of the devices supplied to us by Bluetti and establish if it can perform and will conclude with our Pro's & Con's. Whilst this is effectively paid promotion as we have been given the item the views and opinions in the video are ours independently.
Please support the channel by pressing the like, subscribe, share or comment as we love to hear from you as this encourages us to create even more content....

I just wanted to say after seeing comments about advertising products. You guys put in so much effort into your videos. It annoys me when you are criticised for advertising products. Subscribers need to understand the effort that goes into producing material. I have even heard that comment “I won’t watch if there are lots of adverts”. Take no notice. This KZfaq game is hard work. You guys do it very well and should expect some reward. Even buying cameras and drones is not cheap. It takes a long time to get that money back if ever. All I am saying is if you need to advertise then do it. Most subscribers will understand that. Sorry rant over 😮

Thanks for watching and comments - as I said it’s first time in 4 years and 168 videos and we only did it as the company did not constrain my words so that allowed me to test and share pros and cons. Like you we share all we use in the van as people are interested and this won’t sit on a shelf. We don’t openly advertise although you could argue the van and every thing we share in our trips is an advert but I hope it’s more interesting and enjoyable than that Take care both

Hi Stu, twice in onenight😅. I've seen this video before, but just rewatched it. It's such a good simple explanation of what it can do. We are just about to upgrade from a 500-watt Jackery to a 2000-watt Afariy with solar panels, so we should be able to power Manchester in a black out😅😅. Is the kettle still going strong? Was looking to possibly get the same one.

That was a great review and so useful for me. You are spot on about showing how many times it actually boils the kettle. It was also really useful to see you charge the unit as you drive the van. That’s what I plan to do with my tiny 300w River 2. I would have been interested to see the impact on your leisure battery when you were travelling and charging the Bluetti, was your van leisure battery already full, or does it charge both batteries at the same time. I’m also a bit confused by the electrics! I don’t really have anything that I need more than 300w for just my laptop and everything else will charge off the van battery and that has solar. If we run out of gas we have the cadac with the aerosol cans for an emergency. Sandwiches are fine, we won’t starve and there’s a towel for my hair. Thank goodness I’m not on KZfaq 😂. Thanks for sharing an excellent review.
@getawaygeese
@getawaygeese Жыл бұрын
Excellent - really appreciate you taking time to feedback and so glad that the tests were useful. 300w is fine we had ours for 4 years and served us well and to be honest we may still take it. In answer to your question on Harry it will be charging both at the same time so win win - I am no techy but assume the alternator will share to Harry. Now whether there is less charge going to the leisure I am not sure but Harry tends to be always topped up. In all of the Ireland trip we charged the 300w and the leisure battery and had no issues. We as you may know had the lithium and dc to dc charge upgrade. KZfaq creation I enjoy but you put many hours in to creating a video probably 2/3 days per video if you include filming or just 2 if production

Thank you for a great review. However, I'm afraid I have had a more negative experience of this device. I too try to use it with a Cookworks (Argos) travel kettle which consumes just over 600W. I can't do this very much before the capacity indicator suddenly drops to zero, the low battery indicator lights (NOT the overload indicator) and the inverter cuts out. You can switch on the inverter again, whereupon it will operate for a couple of seconds and then cut out again. The fault will not clear until it's charged again, if only for a short time. I can run the kettle while it's charging from the mains adaptor and it won't cut out (taking about 400W from the battery). This fault is not due to battery capacity - you can discharge at a lower rate and you get the capacity claimed, and after this fault occurs it doesn't put anything like the full capacity back into the batteries before it's fully charged again. I think the issue might be affected by temperature - it appears to be worse as the temperature drops even by a small amount - maybe down to 10C (well within its operating range). I had a long to and fro with Bluetti about this, including sending them videos, and they eventually told me it was faulty, but because I didn't buy direct from them, they point blank refused to help me out after that. I bought it from eBay, new and sealed, but by the time Bluetti admitted there was something wrong the return window had closed, so I am stuck with a faulty device. Unkind Bluetti, unkind. The pitch of the fans does drop quite a bit when supplying 600W. I wonder of yours does too, or if there's a problem with internal resistance of the cells in my unit, causing it to think the batteries are flat when on a full load? Another problem mine has is indicating overload when connected to a freezer. The freezer's compressor only consumes about 70W and while it of course has a large start-up current, I'm disappointed that the device can't handle this when it claims to have a 1kW surge capacity.
@getawaygeese
@getawaygeese Жыл бұрын
First thanks for watching and commenting and sorry you have had a different experience - so far it’s not been an issue and I have used it a few times to boil the kettle and cook as per the tests except doing it for real So far it’s not had a problem but time will tell I guess and I can only show it as it is - I generally don’t charge and use it at the same time and tend to charge fully then use it and then top up non the move The fan on mine from what I recall increases in noise ie it turns up to handle higher capacity and cooling needs so that seems right to me - I am not an electrician as you can make it but as yet not experiencing any issues I can get 6-8 boils of a 600w kettle as per my testing - I wonder if it’s a rogue unit being sold on eBay I will keep an eye out and feed back in future videos if any issues
@matthewmarks6951
@matthewmarks6951 Жыл бұрын
@@getawaygeese thanks for the quick response. Yeah, I was getting more depressed the more kettles you managed to boil! I only use it while charging because that's the only way I can get it to supply the kettle without it deciding the battery is flat. If it was a rogue unit then it was extremely well disguised - no signs that the packaging had been opened and no blemishes whatsoever. I accept that faults can happen but Bluetti really could have behaved better towards me, considering the effort I had to go to to convince them it wasn't working properly. I've read lots of reports about bad customer service from them even as they send out freebies for influencers to review. (No sleight on you - you're just reporting what you found, and on the surface this is a very appealing product, and it is well-made.)

@@matthewmarks6951 mmmm very strange as it doesn’t appear to be holding charge - have you tried the different hertz setting 50/60 - not sure the impact as like I said no electrician Shame you can’t get it repaired by them We had a poweroak for 4 years and no issues I have to say
@matthewmarks6951
@matthewmarks6951 Жыл бұрын
@@getawaygeese I could try the 60Hz setting (I don't have access at the moment) but that shouldn't make any difference - the kettle would consume the same amount of power. You never know, though. I don't think the problem is in the AC inverter as that would cause the overload indicator to light (as it does with the freezer connected). By the way, the inverter eats about 20W before you draw any power, so if you've got the option of using a DC outlet (such as USB A or C) then do that rather than plugging a USB power supply into the AC outlet.

Thanks glad you found it useful - I looked on Amazon and in the product description it mentions microwave below 700w I found lots of devices state a wattage ie that cook pot said 600w but pulled I think around 665w so the manufacturers aren’t always accurate - so whether you can test that before hand Failing that I guess try and return How many cooks you will get will be dependant upon how long by 330w/600w cook pot does two cooks but that’s cooking for 20 mins. So I guess yours will be 8/10 min. Bursts - if you are driving the following day or can charge it somehow then you should be able to use it the following day if you put adequate charge in We have been using it yesterday night boiled kettle couple of times and cooked a curry on a mixture of 300w/600w setting and it went down to around 50% of charge used

I’m replacing the noisy ac power supply with a 12v cigarette plug AC>DC adapter for home use, alongside 200w of solar via Xt60 port. The Bluetti DC7909 port says 10amp, but the provided brick is 8. My options for a fan-less brick are 5 or 8. Am I right that the 10amp would charge twice as fast, which is not an issue for my use, but will 5 amp run cooler/safer? I’m just powering my internet and home security system when I leave home for months at a time. I’d rather be safe than fast. Concerns with 10a amp vs 5?

Not sure why anyone would buy oe of these over so many other power stations. Customer service isn't the best and they're not the cheap. A Vtoman 1500x is only £100 more but has double the inverter power (1500watts and 3000watts peak) and a much larger battery (828wh)..plus the option of an expansion battery.
