I have this, slicer grind with working finish, and I love it. I stayed away from hinderer in the past, because of the sloppy deployment I always read about. I love a good snappy deployment. I love the “man up” comment. Ya gotta toughen your hands up for one of these. And yeah, the flipper tab is a little sharp. My finger is just wore out from fidgeting with it. Over time, the callouses build up, and it’s not a problem.

I just ordered my first one today. I’m very excited to get it. I hope it’s everything people are saying about it. Nothing wrong with Japanese. I spent two months there last year it had a total blast. People are so kind. I can’t wait to go back.

Congratulations. I spent some time in Japan myself and agree. It’s Chinese knives that I try to stay away from.

@@ThruMyLens100 I got a little anxious and purchase three Kershaw Launch 9’s. Two of the boxes have never been opened. Factory fresh. Do you know of an avenue to sell these knives? Thanks !!! PS: I drool every time I see your beautiful knife !!!

"a knife is a uniquely American thing"... that's a bold statement considering e.g. German Solingen is famous as "blades-city" since the 13th century ;-) ... ok I took it out of context a little (8:44) ... but I understand the statement. For similar reason I prefer knives made of European steal and/or produced here... as we also have a long history of knives and decent knife-makers. But also Japanese knives - esp for the kitchen can be nice... or yes... a European designed Fällkniven, inspired by a US-design, made in Japan ;-)

I PREFER QUALITY KNIVES DESPISE THEIR ORIGINS UNLESS THEY WE WERE WELL MADE

Exactly. 100% US made. Every piece executed perfecly. Durable, smooth action even on washers, excellent blade shapes, and very customizable. Phillips clip screws easily replaced and micarta scales are excellent. I have a half trac wharnie which I love, love, love. And a spanto skinny. It is so fun and practical. You get what you pay for with Hinderer as opposed to many others.

i own this same knife/scale and the battle blue with battle blue hardware and the black blue scale. Its my edc, i love it n never parting with it. Lots of new Hinderer users dont know how to open it, its like a push button.

@@ThruMyLens100 you've been an enthusiast FAR longer than I. I collected as A mostly uninformed novice of a teen. I just dove back in about four months ago. I can already swim much deeper than then. The issue that I have is that I'm still holding my breath. I'm having too much "fun" to come up yet! (30 pcs). What I'm (correctly) telling myself is that I'll come up to breathe when the hinderer gets here. Then I'll float on top and enjoy the view for a while. I spend hours daily educating myself (through others of course) and now you're a part of that as well. Yup. Addicted? Possibly. Enamored? Very much so. Doesn't sound like a word used to describe inanimate objects but it's close enough. Yeah, I'm smitten and bitten by the bug. 🤙

Its a strong detent but I think a lot of people are pressing fingers into the lockbar when opening via thumb.

I know hinderer designs are supposed to be based on " rescue tactical CFR needs " but this just isn't appropriate at all for the first responder community let's get real here. The xm18 looks and feels like a rough rugged bad ass bikers knife. This is the type of knife a hell's angel would want to carry. The knife would better accommodate rough riders not EMS or FFs.

Yes...this is no blade for snowflakes....now that being said...I really don't understand the whole jimping thing with the flipper tab, when I flip this knife open I do a light switch flip and my finger ends up behind the jimping on the top of the frame....maybe it's just how my fingers work, but maybe people need to man up as well...
