Yeah it is sad that they force you to only have nvidia. I like nvidia but you should still have a choice. I think it is more production costs why you can't. If I would have had more time with it I would have changed the drive and tried Linux on it. It needed to get to our developers to use.

@@garyshobbystudio It annoys me that you can buy the Intel model without an Nvidia GPU, but you can't buy an AMD version without the Nvidia GPU 😢I'll probably still buy one though 😄(I'll get the AMD version).

@@garyshobbystudio Any idea of the USB4 & HDMI outputs work with the dGPU off? If so, then one should be able to use the dGPU for a VM on the same external display the iGPU is connected to... Hard to tell!

If you want to use a usb adapter for connecting a display. You have to connect the USB to the vm. If the drivers get installed it should work. Have not done that but I could in the future video. Just have to get one to try out.

My p53 has a t2000 in it and it's a good chipset. I haven't used one of the RTX A series. So I can't really say one way or the other. Look at Cuda core count and other specs. Sometimes the workstation cards are based on the same technology as the consumer series. The only differences could be the amount of cores, ram, and clock speed. That can make the difference between higher frame rates and visual quality.

I didn't test the SD reader. I would figure you would get as fast as the SD card goes.

It looks like you can get the same processor and memeory combination. The only difference is you get two usb-c ports which one is for charging. If the dell is like the lenovos I have worked with. That usb-c charging port for a laptop will be giving your problems. I have no experience with the dell models. I know at my former work place I had to call lenovo quite a few times because the usb-c ports would stop working and they had to replace the motherboard. The nice thing about the lenovo is you get a full size charging port and network port. Which in my opinion is way better than what is offered in the dell. Another advantage of the lenovo is the 4k laptop display. There is not option for that on the dell. So the choice is yours. I would lean towards the lenovo rather then the dell unless you need to save some money then go with the dell. If you can afford it I would go with the Lenovo just becasue of the choices of nvidia graphics chipset.

No I have no recommendation. The one we used at my former workplace is a startech travel dock. You would need a usb-c power supply to power it. Plus the computer power supply to keep it running. Plus you can only connect one monitor to it at a time. I would recommend one of lenovos thunderbolt dock. That way you can connect two monitors to it.

During the testing I didn't run into any issues. Using davinci resolve free edition stresses the cpu more than the gpu. So you shouldn't have any issues with it.
