I needed a soldering microscope. I built one for around 100 eur using a spare raspberry with a HD camera module, microscope objective, aluminum casing and gas piston monitor arm. Accessible through web browser from any PC in local network. 30 Hz refresh rate. No complaints so far. No proprietary half-chinese SW other than rasp OS. If anyone is interested in it, i am glad to reply on details.

It sounds as if Value engineering has stripped the value out of the product!
