Gentlemen, we are gathering a clan [T071] INDOMITO lesta.ru/clans/wot/509807/
Fans of British vehicles can rejoice, because Wolrld of Tanks has announced for the first time an assault tank destroyer - the Turtle Mk. I level 8. Outwardly, it resembles a smaller copy of the level 10 Badger being pumped up.
Turtle Mk. I is equipped with a 108 mm gun with a single damage of 330 units, which is one of the minimum values among single-level premium tank destroyers. Armor penetration is not at all pleasing:
a basic (armor-piercing) projectile of 224 mm - the lowest value among other premium ATs (the only exception is JgTig.8.8 cm with 217 mm, but it has a preferential level of combat);
a special (sub-caliber) projectile of 253 mm - very little for equipment fighting with “nines” and “tens”. At the same time, the armor penetration of sub-calibers decreases with distance, so at a distance of over 300 meters they will be of little use, except for a high flight speed.
What immediately catches your eye is the very low flight speed of the projectiles, including gold ones. This tank destroyer is more suitable for medium and short ranges; at a long distance it will be difficult to hit a moving target.
It is more comfortable for her to carry out damage due to excellent aiming angles:
UGN 20...20°;
UVN -10…+20°.
Aiming time 1.83 seconds, accuracy 0.35. The compensation for a small alpha strike is a high rate of fire. Reloading takes 6.52 seconds, which allows you to fire 9.2 shots per minute with a potential damage of 3037 units, which is the highest value among premium tank destroyers.
The safety factor is 1400 units, which is significantly higher than that of most cluster tank destroyers, but still inferior to other representatives of the assault JgTig.8.8 cm and TS-5. Frontal armor is 226 mm (i.e., when meeting with the same Turtle Mk. I, you will not be able to 100% penetrate each other in the forehead without using gold shells or luck with FBR). In this case, the armor plates are located at right angles, so the adjustment will only be in the VLD area. The sides are 101 mm, and the stern is 76 mm, so if you go around it, absolutely anyone can break through.
It is worth noting that, unlike the upgraded AT 15, this premium vehicle has been cut down, so it will be difficult to target the commander’s cupola if the enemy does not have an advantage in the height of the position.
The vehicle weighs 60 tons, but due to its good engine, the specific power is 13.33 hp/t. True to its name, the Turtle received a snail's speed of 20 km/h forward and 10 km/h reverse. The chassis traverse speed is one of the lowest at 23.99°. The stealth coefficient of the “mini turtle” is one of the lowest, 13.28% when stationary. The visibility is normal for level 8 - 370 meters, but the communication range is very low - 595 meters.
ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES
To control equipment in battle with maximum efficiency, you need to have a good knowledge of its capabilities. Having familiarized ourselves in detail with the tactical and technical characteristics of the Turtle Mk. I can highlight its strengths and weaknesses.
Advantages:
fast recharge;
good accuracy;
quick mixing;
comfortable UVN and UGN;
a good simulator for the crew of British assault tank destroyers.
Flaws:
poor dynamics;
poor maneuverability;
low armor penetration by both types of projectiles;
mediocre stealth;
the reservation is practically devoid of rational angles of inclination;
low communication range.
This assault tank destroyer, as is typical for equipment of this type, depends on the map. She feels very comfortable in tight city streets and extremely insecure in open space, where artillery can reach or a faster enemy can drive into the rear.
