Wow! How far has this tech has come. It sounds just the same as being in the room with that amp. What a great job these guys have done here. Thanks for the video.

So the Standby switch keeps the plugin warmed up :D?

This sounds pretty great. Thanks for switching to bridge pickup for the valve mics - helps a lot as thats the setting I was most curious about. Do you like this one or the Super Lead 1959 more? Thanks.

would love to ave had you keep it in the unison capacity so we could hear the settings you liked. Great video anyways. Thanks.

I wish there were a way to brighten up the sound of this particular amp plugin as it sounds overly dark compared to the other UAD amp sims.

And what's really interesting, the original Softube Bluesbreaker plugin sounds noticeably brighter. It seems that UA messed up their version of the plugin.

There is (He said a year later) just put a bright pre amp in front.

None noticeable...especially in unison

The most realistic guitar amp plugin out there. Sounds more natural than those Axe FX and even the Kempers. Too bad it's only available if you have bought UAD's audio interface.

+Filionka Do you know where I can find any shootouts between these 3 mammoth tone machines? The new UAD Apollo USB is mighty tempting considering the options.

Great review and great guitar playing. But there's just one thing I don't understand: How the hell do people like the sound of those damned pedals? It always manages to sound less organic than the original amp's distortion, no matter the amp or the pedal. Besides, (and this is a genuine question), don't you think if you actually need to use a pedal to get the sound you want, that you're better off looking for an amp that directly and natively gives you the sound you like? And also, the people who make great amps put a lot of time into creating a circuit that makes a great distorted sound. To me, adding ANY sort of distortion pedal to an amp is like messing with the EQ within your stereo or music player. Producers and mixing engineers are payed a LOT of money to make sure the audio sounds as best as it can in ANY situation: Hi-Fi speakers, laptop speakers, car speakers, headphones, earphones, even on your phone's speakers, adding a distortion pedal to a high quality amp is like messing with the eq of a song after the producer and mixing engineer spent hours tweaking. Excuse the rant, but it seems like too many people do this and to me it's one of those "tastes" that I simply don't understand.

James Callahan I agree somewhat but even the most thourough enhineer cant mix for EVERY situation, output, room, etc. Same with amps. The proper use of pedals is to shore up sound deficiencies in the particular way you use the amp in the studio and Esp so in different live situations where the unfamiliar room might be affecting tone. But I do agree that pedals are often WAY overused

My journey into the amp sim rabbit hole has reaffirmed my suspicions that all of KZfaq is a grift. If a sound engineer thinks these sound even decent, they are lying for a paycheck or they are terrible sound engineers. I’ve wasted a lot of money on digital crap. This video taught me that, so thanks

Not much of a review. "Quick overview" would be more fitting.

+Henrik Petersson (Fruitful Life) You buy all of your gear based on the opinions of others, or based on what your ears say? I'd rather hear the gear rather than someones worthless opinion of the gear.
@henrikpetersson28998 жыл бұрын
Both. But mostly based on what I hear, especially when it comes to simple things like amp sims. My point is that it was a very rushed video and we didn't get to hear very much of the amp and what it could do. Seems kinda pointless. Sadly I cannot demo it myself for another couple of weeks so I was hoping to hear more of it before then. But I'll simply have to wait.

If I were UA I'd switch from Softtube and get someone else. Their stuff sounds fake. Course haven't heard an amp plugin that sounds good yet...IMO I usually end up mic'ing up my tube amps with an R121 and playing at bedroom volumes sounds better.....

No thanks, to boxy sounding.
