Good review I have one for about 5 months now . It was a pain in the beginning but ever since the upgrades it is working perfect now

Pioneer are very good at designing equipment that doesn't tick all the boxes.

This controller is very good and now with the latest rekordbox upgrade and firmware it is even more deadly . yeah the size could be a bit of an issue and also the weight . but when you set it up at a gig , people take you very seriously. the only thing is missing now is the ability to record video mix. that will complete this unit.

**Also worth mentioning: this controller has a 96khz soundcard, the same as nxs2 hardware! All other controller only have 44.1khz sound cards!

Had mine for over a month, used it once, only to find that I can't beat match with this pitch. And yes even by ear it will not perfectly align. I'm going to return it!

Me and lots others has commented about the pitch slider also in pioneer forums. Its same on DDJ-RZ you cant get accurate mix like you would on CDJS. Pulse response has been there is no problems! Use sync if you cant mix. So i think there will be not any updates for it... Mayby they fix it for DDJ-RZ2/RZX2 LOL

Having used all manner of equipment including my trusty 1200s, of the cdj and Controller range I much prefer the capacitive jogs as oppose to the mechanical.

I have the XDJ-RX and was seriously thinking of getting this, but after thinking about this review I may not get it. I mean if I had the money I would lol. I may save up and get it still lol. But at least 5K is a lot of money. For the DDJ-RZX AND a new laptop, damn, thats a lot. They need to make a DDJ-RZX 2 with the standalone feature!

The pitch fader not being able to go to precise BPM values is a huge killer for me on this product. I'll have to stick with the trust worthy CDJs.

It would have been nice if it was stand alone. It seems that Pioneer is sitting on their hands when it comes down to hardware advancement. I'll bet it was already in development before Denon MCX8000 stand alone controller went into production. Now Pioneer had to put this out and try to recoup the loss.

It's club standard feature rich but its not a standalone device. And only Rekordbox not fair you should allow the DJ to make that decision not force you to use the software. Not ranting but it has all the features i have been requesting on a controller for a long time now like Pressure Sensitive Jog Wheels. I will wait for a DDJ-SZX!!!

the only issue with this is Rekordbox, so analysing tracks Rekordbox seem to put the grid in the wrong place on 90 percent of my tracks, i have to manually adjust them, its annoying when you have thousands of tracks, i have used serato vdj and traktor with the same library and they all put the beat grid perfectly in the right place, if i could manually mix like a cdj and mixer but no the track is locked to the beat grid so it jumps to the first grid and if there in the wrong place it just so useless i find myself back on my cdj 800 mk2s and a mixer, this being locked to rekordbox is so annoying to the point that i want to just start using the sx again with vdj 8

also people who are true DJ's should know how to beat match with out a machine doing it for you, just saying. and btw you can beat match with this machine, you press down on the jog wheel, turn it, and on the screen you should see the BPM meter moving.

If Pioneer can make this same device keeping the screens and pad lay out with the mixer with two Computer USB's capable with serato & record box with the motorized joggles like the rev 7 and the capabilities of the OPUS-QUAD the would create the Dj's Utopia

I still don't get the purpose of this controller, It looks nice but why would they not just make this as a standalone controller because what would be the point of the screens if you still gotta connect a laptop

The only way a jog wheel can feel analog is if the platter spins like a motorised direct drive Technics SL-12. All plastic jog wheels on ANY controller (standalone player), from the DDJ-RZX, CDJ 2000 NXS2 or the Denon SC5000 (and everything in between) will never be good for scratching or feel anything like a analog moving steel platter! Denon tried with the stand alone SC3900 (which had a real moving steel turntable) but all the other features on this unit where terrible. And not forgetting the Numark NS7 which was a good effort but still didn't convert all the DMC style dj's to the controller platform. While all these new players and controllers have all the control you need to utilise the features within the software, the only thing that lets them down is the fisher price plastic jog wheels!

my worry is this back in the 80s you could buy a complete stereo, record player, radio, tape 2 tape, evan multi channel EL. and that was cool, or so we thought. A few years later, and the EQ starts crackling., record player stared to give up, which then made it useless. give me separates was the lesson I've learnt. If an item goes down you can change it out.

I have the Pioneer DDJ-SZ and I use the echo in my colour fx to reach the 1ms and getting a nice fluting sound wat is great in buildups in bigroom music and electo house... it is just the thing I can't do at the fx on top so do you know if this is also possible at the RZX? HOW DID YOU GET TO ACCESS YOUR LIBRARY ON THE CONTROLLER PLS

Rekordbox video plugin vs Serato video plugin in 2019/2020 is what I can't find any video or good blog post on. What I've found is that Rekordbox is more configurable and has the option for additive video mixing (channel faders rather than cross fader) as the main difference. Recently saw an SX with Serato video in action and that looked like it works great. Been out of the dj game for about 10 years. Had the first ddj 1000 back then for at home and on the road had both a usb stick and a case of audio cds as at that time controllers were not hip and most places had old cdjs that could only do audio cds. Looking for a platform to potentially get back in the game with. Really would appreciate a video that shows the pros and cons of both video plugins in detail in 2020 :-)

can you tell anything about replacement if you noticed in your backround leftside you got the 3 channel numark mixer blue violete kinda color its crossfader for example was very slick and easy to replace within seconds since it was not as capsulated as for the djm500 600 for exampl so bear dripping into it made it take on rost and making the slider less smooth you could hear the crackles im wondering about this mix controller if thos kind of problems still exist since its signals could be effected by moistuer wearing down the fader physicly can it ? so in short ... you can tell anything about the longlivity of the fader or replacement posibilitys of in this case especialy the cross fader thx in advance

Might as well just get the Denon SC5000 Prime and X1800. Won't need a computer for just audio gigs... plus can run Serato, Serato Video and Mix Emergency if need be. No need to invest in a new $3000 laptop just to run this RZX.

for who? ppl dont realize that there's is a section of the market that theyre people who aren't really concerned about a grand here or there, they just want to have fun and experience the coolest stuff. they exist ya. like a professional NBA basketball player I could see being stoked on this. the big size and more features. it could be semi permanently installed in a studio room or a nightclub in the basement of the house. for after-party a few heads roll to your place and someone is a DJ and wants to spin. just saying ive been in these situations.

Makes no sense to have screens and can’t use without a laptop. Imagine this exact controller but made to work like an xdj xz. If the xdj xz was designed just like this, I’d imagine it would be even a more impressive machine than it already is.

I think Serato DJ and Rekordbox DJ should have an option called "easy tempo" or something where if you have a track playing (say it's at 128.00 bpm) and you want to blend in a 2nd track (say it's at 130.00 bpm), you'd move the tempo slider of the 2nd deck down, and once you get down to 128.03 (or 127.97), it will just automatically change the tempo to 128.00. I get that you could just use Sync at that point, but there is nothing more annoying than trying to get a track's tempo to a nice even bpm, just to get stuck like 0.03 or even 0.01 bpm above or below your target bpm.

You need to turn the music up when demonstrating it's way to quiet, can barely hear it.
