I don't agree with the statement that you can replace the 45° buckle with tighter lacing. The tighter you lace, the more you flatten the arch of your foot, which leads to several problems. With the 45° buckle you achieve stability without these problems.
@simongloutnez58910 ай бұрын
He didnt say to replace the buckle with laces, he said he recommends to remove the toe strap cause its utterly useless even if its a feature on every slalom skates, and to replace the laces with waxed laces (I would 100% change those laces) and finished by saying you can remove the buckle and only rely on good laces (a bit like the themskate 909). But I would keep the buckle because I like my skates thight !

If you use the special lacing technique he mentions, a hockey lacing technique, it helps for foot placement (heel lock) and tightening without flattening the arch. Worth looking up and using, even if you like the 45 buckle because it is more focused and more adjustable than the buckle.

Anybody out there who gutted the evo's? I did with CJ and it got tighter... I tried with the Kaze (never try 🥲) and can't even put my foot in anymore at a size bigger than my other skates... So I don't dare on my tight Evo's, even though the lining on one boot is torn in heel area (after very few sessions 😑) already

Nice video, I'm wondering if a medium size Iqon carbon cuff fits on a 43 size, what do you think?
@toffeealb5 ай бұрын
You didn't say much about differences. For instance, the liner of the Sam model seems different, especially in the front part under the laces. It seems thicker and better shaped. I've already got an hc evo and my experience is that the liner gets thinner time by time and could hurt, because you start feeling the hard structure of the boot/caff touching your ankles... I would suggest doing a more specific review of those models. By the way, I heard the full customizable hc evo (not mentioned here) has gotten a thicker, hence more comfortable, liner. Is that true? This is something I would like to learn from a review. Thanks and keep working on 💪🏼

Very common problem, happens on mine as well and that`s one of the reason Sam Croft changed the buckle for his pro model.

If i were to try wizard, would you recommend a FR1 with intuition liner or a Evo pro? Here where I live I only have access to a seba FR1, and the bottom is not really comfortable. No way to compare the two. Your opinion?
@Thisissoul4 ай бұрын
The FR1 for sure. it has more sideways support. The HC Evo sits a bit low.

@@Thisissoul Thanks! In your opinion, do you think the SEBA and FR version of the FR1 is markedly different in terms of build quality or comfort? The SEBA version here I could feel bumps and plates under my foot, somewhat like plates and rivets. does it happen to FR FR1s?

I would really love to hear some other shops divide softboot and hard boot like you do it. Every other page sorts skates into soft and hard depending on their shell material.... And if you would go with powerslides own naming, they say hybrid boot because it has soft material outside but still harder components for more stability inbetween thode soft materials.... Like my powerslide kaze is nearly as stiff and hard as my powerslide next no mater the outside material. Thats why they call it hybrid.
@Thisissoul10 ай бұрын
The term hardboot and softboot are a bit misleading because of the words hard/soft in the definition. In its base it just meand that it has a replacable liner and or that it has an integrated liner. Instead people fockus more on the hard/soft words in the definition. If you go by that then any carbon skate would be the hardest boots and they are not because of the integrated liner. In the end of the day it best to avoid the terms hardboots / softboots at all because they are so misleading. More about it here: www.thisissoul.com/blogs/buyers-guide/hardboot-vs-softboot

the top and bottom buckles are so annoying. You can't get out at the bottom and it just gets in the way at the top when you put it on and take it off. My Sebas have great buckles that don't break as quickly (or at all) as the Powerslide trash. The buckles also rattle. I can only recommend the FR Spin to everyone if they want to buy a great skate for comparatively little money.
@Thisissoul3 ай бұрын
for sure, I would take the ankle buckle off and just use the laces also the front velcro strap is useless.
