Thanks brother, was really looking forward to this review!! Looked at a Peloton but out of my price range and don't like clip in pedals. Everyone is talking about this bike as a good alternative but there are not very many good reviews on KZfaq. Your unboxing and directions video was awesome.

Awesome man! Everyone at the house loves it and it gets used daily. It’s really a great setup 👌🏽. I recently discovered the RGT Cycling app (similar time Zwift) and the bike pairs perfectly...can’t do that with a Peloton lol 😂

Excellent review! Finally, a review that provides needed information that did not sugar coat short comings and pointed out the multiple strengths of the equipment. Most so called reviews are uninformative written and directed by the manufacturers that are over dubbed with hype music. This review is much better than those videos.

I agree one thing I don't like is the flared out ends of the handle bar ends. They look stupid. A strength of this bike is that is more affordable than some other bikes I’ve been researching. The wait to get this bike delivered is a turn off although. For me it is a strong contender for my planed purchase.

Cube Hire Yup, I still haven’t gotten used to the bar ends. Try refreshing the Dick’s Sporting Goods site, where it was shipped to me in about 4 or 5 days. BTW I’ve picked up a second bike: Schwinn SC Power. Much more expensive but it’s in a completely different league.

Thanks to your install video, I assembled mine last night and rode it this morning. As soon as I got on the bike, the resistance level showed 0 so I thought I'd start there. In a couple of minutes I was struggling LOL, and I realized the resistance level was turned up and was not at 0 like the display. When I turned the knob left, the resistance decreased, but the number stayed at 0. Then when turning clockwise, the number wouldn't change then after a turn or two would start to increase. There's something wrong here for sure. Is there a video somewhere explaining/fixing this? Thank you!
@marshan34
@marshan34 4 жыл бұрын
Great video. I have the Bowflex C6. I agree with you about the resistance. To solve that I read on a post to remove the cover of the magnet and there is a 13mm bolt that you can loosen. This will take some of the tension off of the magnet. It is definitely tough at zero. Also if anyone is military or veteran you get a 30% discount from Bowflex. Made mime $699 before tax.

Awesome review, thank you! I have a question regarding the resistance. My wife is getting ready to rehab from knee surgery and I noticed in your video you said the lowest resistance feels like a 20 on the Peloton. Would that be too much strain on her knee in your opinion? I've never been on a Peloton so I don't know what a 20 would feel like. Also does it have an emergency stop like other bikes for the flywheel? Thanks!!!
@preludedriven
@preludedriven 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, the 0 resistance level does put a bit of strain, but it's only noticeable at higher RPMs of 90-100. As long as she keeps a slow/easy cadence, it should be great for the knee. Thanks!

I just got mine this week. Love it so far. Not sure if you can shed some light. So I’m using the peleton app via an iPad. No issues. However, I would like to sync the data with Strava. I like to pedal against heavy resistance, as if I'm pedaling through mud or molasses, or up a big hill, where I have to struggle hard to peddle and have to stop after 30-45 seconds, rest and repeat over and over to blast my quads. I have strong legs(squat 315lbs. for reps) and stay seated while pedaling. Is the maximum resistance on this bike sufficient for me to accomplish what I describe?
@preludedriven
@preludedriven 4 жыл бұрын
The resistance on this bike might not be what you’re looking for, as there are only 4 magnets vs 6 on most other bikes. Look up the Schwinn AC Power and AC Performance bikes, both have 6 magnets and a much stronger frame.

@preludedriven

Yes, so the IC7 is the equivalent to the IC3 that we have here. The IC7 uses the same frame (and most components) as the IC8, but yes, lacks magnetic resistance and does not feature bluetooth connectivity. If you are fine with a resistance pad and no connectivity, it will for the most part be identical. Hope this helps!

No, unfortunately. That is one trade-off that you don't get with a setup like this. Whenever I do a Peloton ride, I actually record (on a separate device) using something like Zwift or Kinetic to get all of my output numbers and post to Strava.

You can definitely participate in live classes and your name shows up in the roster, but I know that the data metrics in the Peloton app are limited vs an actual Peloton bike. The total weight of this bike is 105 while The peloton on the other hand is 135 , I’d hate to go with the peloton just for sturdiness if it’s really a none issue for this bike ?
@preludedriven

Honestly, the bike does rock/wobble a bit. The mat I am using in this video is kind of spongy, so that did add to the rocking as well. From what I've seen, the Peloton also has some wobble to it. I'd also recommend you to check out the Schwinn AC Performance or AC Power bikes. Those are commercial grade and sturdier than both this and the peloton.

Is there a spin bike where you don't have to lean forward like bikers do? Can I adjust handles so I can seat in a more upright position when biking? I have 2 buldging disk in my back so I would like to be able to adjust seat and hundles where I can keep back straight and with good posture while spinning. Looks uncomfortable to use bike leaning forward with head almost touching handles like I have seen people do and also arching back while placing hands on handles?? also does bottom gets very sore and painfully after spinning workout, specially doing it every day or every other day for 30-40 min?? I been trying to decide between this and echo rogue airdyne bike to use at home for hitt and maybe long biking workouts... Bike looks pretty cool and I know it will give me a good workout, however I don't know if Iam gonna a like just seating there pedaling for 30- 40 min.. I lift 3x a week and every other day 2x a week I do 30 min hitt workouts.. Battle rope, kettle bell, punching bag, ply box, airdyne etc, etc... I always do 40sec on 20 off with a variety of exercises for 30-35 min.. Don't know if the spinn bike will fit in my workouts or if I really need it? Maybe if I don't feel like doing hitt I can jump on the spin bike and do a peloton workout or something like that. Do you think spin bike is for people that don't like doing hit workouts or people that don't have any other equipment or maybe they just like biking?? Sorry for all the questions..just trying to decide between spinn bike and airdyne bike.. Thank u

This bike does have fore/aft adjustable handlebars, but I believe you might be looking for more of an upright bike, where you sit more vertical. You can always swap the seat out and/or get padded shorts, which help tremendously! Btw, my wife is not very flexible, and was never too into cycling, but she's been enjoying this bike, and has not complained about the arch in her back :)

Can you do interval training reaching maximum heart rate with any flywheel weight? I see flywheels ranging from 20lbs to 50lbs.

@@preludedriven Thank you for your response. Can you pedal fast enough with no resistance using any weight flywheel and still reach maximum heart rate? I am thinking about buying an IC2 but the wheel is only 31lbs. I am worried the workout will not be intense enough to reach maximum heart rate. The more resistance you add the more it becomes strength training and less a cardio workout.

Does anyone know how much these usually go for? I'm thinking of getting the IC8. Thanks

The IC4 goes for $799 (US). I believe the IC4 is the US equivalent of the IC8.

I noticed the Speed is in KM, can it be changed to MPH?
@preludedriven
@preludedriven 3 жыл бұрын
Yes it can be changed to MPH: To switch units between kilometers and miles before a workout, push the Increase and Decrease buttons at the same time and hold for 3 seconds. Then, push the Increase/Decrease button to change the units (km/mi). Once the desired unit of distance is displayed, push any other button to save your preference.

My Bowflex the same bike I received and the flywheel was damaged. Schwinn core health and fitness set me a new flywheel. What a freaking nightmare to swap out the flywheel; 1. To remove the drive train shroud / plastic cover requires a non-standard bicycle crank extractor - You will have to purchase this crank extractor directly from Schwinn/core health and fitness. You can't buy this tool anywhere else. Took 6 weeks to get the tool. Brand new bike which I couldn't fix because I didn't have the crank extractor tool. 2. You cannot remove the flywheel without disassembling the resistance mechanism. Disassembling the resistance mechanism is an arduous and complicated process because there's so many parts including the watts measurement device sensor. 3. Once the flywheel is replaced they're so many different screws and parts it's almost impossible to remember which order is required to put everything back together - sadly there's a very specific order which everything needs to be reassembled - fucking pain in the ass and I'm a bike mechanic. 4. With the new Flywheel installed - there was an issue with the resistance mechanism rubbing on top of the flywheel - essentially when you turn the resistance mechanism up to increase the tension the resistance mechanism rubs on the flywheel - I was probably only at about 50% resistance for what I needed for my training. Fuck fuck fuck!! I got this bike did all this work wasted all this time and the resistance mechanism doesn't function properly. My suggestion steer clear of this model bike. Was not a pleasant experience. Lastly 5. The packaging of the replacement flywheel was mediocre and totally inadequate. The box was ripped open, The way they package this heavy flywheel was totally inadequate and it was scratches all over the flywheel. So lame and so disappointing. Some people may think I'm a troll for such a negative review; if you have this bike try using a standard bicycle crank extractor tool - You will see that the standard bicycle crank instructor tool will not work no way Jose. Total number of hours process the warranty orders, get the replacement tool, do all the work I didn't count but probably a total of two work days total. This is one reason not to buy an indoor cycling bike online but instead it's a good idea to purchase a new indoor cycling bike from a local retailer where you can actually get support in real life IRL.

Wow sorry to hear about all of this...definitely feel your pain. I started getting a slight knocking sound from the left crank arm and after I pulled the plastic cap, I did notice the larger/non-standard threads. Luckily the noise stopped once I re-torqued the crank bolt. Is Nautilus offering a solution for you?

Hiii, thanks for the good review! I just have two questions. Does it need electricity to function or is it manual? Also, how much is it?
@mlandau2776

It needs power to run the console. Would work without it, just no display. The resistance knob is mechanical.
@preludedriven
@preludedriven 4 жыл бұрын
This does need to be plugged in to access all of the metrics on the console, but you can still use it unplugged and ride on your own, as the resistance is manual. This is currently $799

Have you tried Zwift? some people report that it has some problem with the data sent to the app. It's extremely easy to win
@preludedriven
@preludedriven 4 жыл бұрын
FarKeldx I have not tried it, but I have been using RGT (similar to Zwift). It works great but I did notice my wattage was off (too high). I fixed this by adding a higher value for my weight
@mikecoulter5243
@mikecoulter5243 4 жыл бұрын
This can be resolved a few ways. 1, adjust your weight in Zwift to be more than than you are. The issue is the wattage output from the IC4 being miscalculated by Zwift, partly. When you say you weight more, Zwift re-calculates your power/weight based on that. IC4 data + your weight + in-game data and math is all. 2. You can re-calibrate the IC4 LCD/resistance, but only upwards of 3 times. Actually, its not the LCD per say (documented) but a sensor attached to it. Regardless, there are instructions online on how to manually re-calibrate the LCD. People have reported this to normalize their wattage output in Zwift. 3. Someone on the Schwinn forums posted a few weeks back that Nautilus support told them there was new firmware being released for the LCD for the IC4 "by May". To update you would download the firmware to a USB stick and go through some measures with support to flash the LCD. This person also indicated that support said replacement LCDs or sensors may be shipped out to update firmware as well. This firmware was in context of IC4 power output vs Zwift. I don't have my IC4 yet, but plan on using Zwift. If I notice my power output is off, I will first adjust my weight in game and do some tests to see how that impacts power and then likely contact support to ask about firmware before I re-calibrate myself. Also, I highly suspect that if you call support, 9/10 of the front line people on the phone will not know what you (or I) are talking about. Its going to take some effort and social engineering to get to the right people and get answers. The IC4 is not listed as a "supported" bike on Zwifts matrix and my guess is because of this reason. The good news is, software can fix this. This is a wall of text, remember if you increase your weight in Zwift it will re-calculate your wattage based on that. A little trial and error and you can get things right yourself.

Will the tablet holder fit any size of tablet? Like the iPad 12.9"? Also, with peloton digital, will your metrics be stored in the app? Or is this not possible?
@MsKRosy
@MsKRosy 4 жыл бұрын
To be more specific, will your metrics from the IC4 transfer to the Peloton app, so you can see the summary at the end of the workout? (calories, avg speed, cadence, etc.) It sounds like there is not an "output" metric on this bike.
@preludedriven
@preludedriven 4 жыл бұрын
I am using a standard iPad and an 8" wide tablet and I believe the larger iPads do fit just fine. As far as the metrics go, only Cadence and Heart rate get transferred and stored. I believe the calories is an estimate and not super accurate.

So max resistance isn't as good as something as paleton?
@preludedriven
@preludedriven 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, max resistance is not as strong as some of the other bikes with 6 magnets (the IC4 only has 4), but it should be fine for most users. Only the larger/stronger riders that put out a lot of watts will notice.

The only two I know that have power output is the Keiser M3 and the WattBike, but they are a lot of money for the one that has handle bar adjustment fore and aft. And even then, it might just be a number on the display as there is no way of knowing whether the number you get is Voltage x Amperage, 'Horse Power' or something else. Same for the WattBike, although the later has a nice graphical display of where you are applying the power on your pedal stroke. There is mileage on the thought that one is better off buying a 'cheap' magnetic brake spinning bike then add the power sensor pedals separately. Then you can compare the spinning power with real life power just by switching the pedals back and forth or if you have the money, buy 2 sets of power pedals.

This does have (perceived) wattage. It does not show up on the console, but will show up in apps (like Zwift, RGT, Sufferfest, etc). But, I've noticed that its power numbers are not too accurate.
