Today we review the MKH8060.with a little comparison to the MKH416. Overall it is a great microphone that seems to be a new version of the MKH416 for the modern world.

Very well presented and very helpful! I have used the 416 for years, but it is time to move up to the 8060.

Nice work man. Besides the size difference, what would be the differences between the 8060 and the 8070? Dude! The 8060 sounds great. Would you say the 8060 sounds more natural than the MKH-50?

Mark Yoshimoto Nemcoff it does sound great yeah, very natural indeed. Its a hard choice between those two. I think it'd come down to functionality. Sound wise they're both very natural.

Cool. In that regard, did you feel that the 8060 is more of a modern take on the 416 and had more of that 416 "in your face" quality than the 50?

I'd say the 8060 is a bit brighter than the MKH50 so the 8060 is something in between the two. Unfortunately I can't compare them since I don't have them anymore.

Thanks! That information helps a lot. I had a hunch the 8060 was a bit brighter, which probably gives it the edge for close up VO work over the 50.

Mkh50 should be compared to mkh8050...
