Yes I love shooting with manual focus lens. This viltrox looks interesting. Seems well made. but price might be a little bit too high?

How was the centering quality of the tested lens? Were the cornerns equally (un)sharp?

Thanks for your review! I noticed some vignetting on the open sky and the wall photo. Question: since it’s manual all the way, do you happen to know if there’s a lens correction setting in LR for this one? I know it can be done manually, but nevertheless it would come in handy if it was included in the RAW converter. I also know I could look that up, but in the wake of my question I‘d like to know how good it corrects. Thank you!

i'm not aware there is any. and since this lens doesn't have electronic contacts to tell the camera what lens it is, i don't think there is an automatic way to apply lens correction automatically.

@@TheRealRichardWong Thanks for answering. In my view it doesn’t need to talk with the camera, LR or PS only need to have a setup file with the information regarding the lens, as it’s applied on the image. This correction files to my knowledge only contain a general instruction set on how the handle inherent distortions a specific lens causes by design. I‘m not aware that they take notice of focal lengths on zoom lenses for example, or aperture or speed settings. I thought you knew if Viltrox supplies the remedy or intends to list this lens for Camera RAW.

@@TheRealRichardWong But you could tell LR which one it is, providing the manufacturer has handed out Adobe the specifications to have them included in Camera Raw, that’s for one thing we get the updates for the module. You could even tell LR to use a different profile, regardless of the data from the talking lens, so to speak, included in the RAW file. Just take a look at the list of profiles provided for each brand. Now, I know that modern mirrorless SLR do that automatically, so the entry in the dropdown menu is empty by default now, but with regular DSLR there’s still the need to manually readjust the setting in LR if it misses to pick the right one. So there’s room for some changes or, returning to the initial query, Viltrox could supply the correction settings to Adobe and you could handpick it from the list, see?
