You are correct. I put short items in the very front of the bed that fit under the cover when it is retracted. Then I use a cargo bar to keep other items from sliding into the space that would be needed for the bed cover to retract.

I load the bed with the cover open so that anything at the front is short enough to allow the cover the open all the way when being pushed down. If the bed isn’t going to be completely full or I don’t have anything that fits under the bed cover when it’s opened, I use my cargo bar to keep stuff from interfering with opening the bed.

I know there are racks that are compatible with Peragon covers, but I don’t know anything about which ones specifically. Peragon does have a web page that is supposed to help with finding compatible accessories: www.peragon.com/blog/what-accessories-work-with-my-tonneau-cover/

I also wonder if they updated the HD design since I installed my cover. I don’t have the push rods. I also know that they say the new HD covers can partially open and lock in multiple positions, but mine doesn’t have that functionality either.

I don’t pull it closed at an angle. The strap itself still has play in it so the carabiner doesn’t pull on the panels when latched to the cargo hook. It just prevents the end of the strap from flying or sliding down into the bed when I open the cover.

Peragon bed covers are compatible with numerous bed accessories. For specific compatibility questions, I’m sure the Peragon support team would be able to assist and let you know if your specific rails will work with a Peragon bed cover.

If you have anything at the front of the bed, it does interfere with the ability to open the bed cover due to its interior folding design. That is another point for people to consider. Personally, if I’m not filling the bed completely, I use a cargo bar to keep items from sliding to the front, but if I’m packing for a trips, using the full bed space would most likely cause interference with opening the bed cover. I may have to do a short video at some point in the future when I have the bed fully loaded and I see how the mechanism effects getting to everything.

We typically recommend people use a simple cargo hook to pull items forward out of the space needed to retract that would otherwise be taken up by a mounted canister. When you don't need to use that bed space an adjustable cargo hook works well for preventing load shift!

If you actually use the bed of your truck, RUN away from this cover! You are absolutely correct, anything in the bed of the truck that slides forward while driving will block the cover from being opened. When I brought this concern to Peragon, I got the same horrible solution they offered in their reply to your question, get a hook and leave it in your truck. How may items that you put in your truck can actually be retrieved with a hook? I can't tell you how many times I've had to army crawl under this bed cover to move items that are blocking it, and make sure you're not wearing nice clothes because you're going to come out wet and dirty because every seam of this cover leaks with any hint of water on top, and even if it didn't leak and there was water or snow on top of it, it's all pouring in as soon as you open it as the seams open up to fold. I owned a Bakflip MX4 on my last truck and I've given this Peragon 2 years to change my mind, and it is the worst hard cover on the market. The material is thin and fragile, if you have anything in the bed with it open and it slides up against the folded cover, it will dent or actually bend the cover. The lock is inferior to the Bakflip, the material is inferior, the opening mechanism is inferior, the useable bed space in inferior. The only thing I will say that is good about it is that it is easy to remove. That said, I had the Bakflip for 5 years and never once needed to remove it to get it out of the way, the design of the cover lets it fold out of the way any time you need the space. I just ordered a new Bakflip and can't wait to throw this Peragon piece of junk in the trash. Honestly, buyer beware, you will be miserable with this cover if you use your truck bed.

@@peragonenterprises, I’ve had the Peragon platinum on my ‘20 Sierra HD since 2020 and recently removed and put on my ‘24 Sierra HD. Really great cover, easy to reinstall. Only had to seal my tailgate area. Really great cover. I don’t think in 2020 that you had the HD version when I ordered. Great job Peragon!

I have the Limited HD. I don’t see anywhere on the website where it says the bed cover locks in multiple positions. The only locking point is at the front of the bed. Each panel does not have a locking mechanism built in so there is nothing to stop them all from folding once you fold in the front set of panels.

Correct ... That was my first question to Peragon Support. Their answer was, "If you go with the Limited HDx edition, you can open it 1/3, 2/3 or all the way."

The HDx option does not appear for Silverados in the Peragon website. The HDx version is only shown when looking at options for Ford F-150, Honda Ridgeline, Nissan Titan, and both Toyota pickups. That’s why I was unaware of the multi position lock. The website just doesn’t show that as an option for Silverado.

I have the HD platinum as well. It does lock in different position. I just did las weekend.

I just finished installing the Peragon limited hx and I love it on my 2022 Ram Mega cab 3500. Works great and love the double locking rods & the ease of folding! There’s alway some pros and cons in everything but overall it’s great!

@@SouthpawGarage I don't have to. I watched another video from Florida. He says the con is, it can't handle any extreme load on the tracks. It would collapse on itself.

If it’s locked, it won’t be able to collapse on itself, but a significant load could put unneeded pressure on the lock mechanism.

I’ve heard they have an updated release mechanism that doesn’t require pushing on the top, but I have yet to confirm with the company. I plan on reaching out to see if it’s true and if I can add the updated mechanism to the cover I already have.

Pushing down in the cover to open it is the worst part of this particular design.
