Always threw that grey bit away. Now I know what it’s for.😂😂

A comment on the Storm Gland video pointed out that the grey bracket is handy for attaching to concrete posts like those behind Joe - if you use the screw holes on the corners of the box to maintain the IP rating, you will break the edges of the post when drilling, as I found out yesterday...

You can fettle the brass plate a wee bit to allow the second gland to enter (half round file) as you will still achieve contact with the screw. Or just put hair round it.😉

Excellent use of fettle there Norman, love that! (Joe)👍

With a bit of persistence you can use the 206 boxes with the earth bar, just takes a bit of jiggery and don't do one tight until you have the other one in.
@dannyakqj1014 жыл бұрын
Brilliant idea, does the grub screw for the earth clamp damage the thread on the gland though??? I am thinking maybe the earth bar could be threaded.
@oliverriall3 жыл бұрын
Can't have two threads in a row like that as they will not be perfectly aligned.

Just a quick question i had 4 of these boxes delivered in error from a company as the Storm gland would not fully screw through the threaded entry because of the rubber membrane being in the way so what is the differance in the 308 and 308/5 box. Also i was unable to screw 2 20mm storm glands side by side why is this please.

Just had an install done, armoured from outside into house....doesn't look right due to bend radius, should the armoured have been terminated into this type of box and twin & earth passed through the wall and jointed in this box?
@johnny1408 Жыл бұрын
Hi could you please tell me what is the differance in the 308 and the 308/5 please as im doing the exact job as you have done here. Thanks

Poss dumb question coming up (but I am not an electrician so be gentle): If earth continuity is maintained through the incoming and outgoing SWA cables via the earth plate... what is the flylead nut for. Is that just for connecting an earth lead from the plate to a nut on the back of a metal box (if you're using one rather than a Wiska box), or do you connect it into the same connector as all the core earths go into (like a five-way Wago connector)..?
@schrodingerscat18632 жыл бұрын
The earth plate connects to metal armour in the cable you should then connect this to the earth conductor in the cable. The armour should not be used as an earth conductor but it should be earthed.

what size of drill bit did use in the wiska 308 box holes where 20mm glands go in. I tried screw them and just wrecks the threads not piercing rubber or plastic rim like there meant to. 🤷♂️
@joem9124 Жыл бұрын
I just thread the gland into the box with adjustable spanner and it pops the rubber thing out

Wago 221 connector block?
@crumps843 жыл бұрын
Does anyone use the connector block that comes with it or do people do what I would do and just use wagos or similar?!?
@Chris-hy6jy3 жыл бұрын
The one I installed this week came with wago 221s and a mounting bracket for the wagos. Must admit the bracket looked like a faf so I just binned it and left the wagos floating in the box 😂
@oliverriall3 жыл бұрын
It upsets me a little that I have thrown so many of those in the bin, the 206's come with 221's now which is soooo much better.

which is the difference between curve circuit breakers b and c 1p+n
@TheChipmunk20084 жыл бұрын
instantaneous trip current. I think B is 3-5x In, C is 5-10x In, and D curve up to 20x In. Typically UK breaker boards use B curve for general purpose circuits. Some EU countries use C curve for this. D curve is for stuff with a HUGE inrush current

@@tom_programator2566 I believe it's in some situations where isolation is REQUIRED in all 'live' poles. N is considered a Live conductor now, especially on TN-C-S where an open PEN could cause it to rise to phase voltage. So having either a DP breaker with linked handles (essential, and usually the trip mechanisms are linked internally too), or a similar device with no OCP on the neutral, but linked to the Phase device...
