If entire Motor industry has figured it out, This Altec Lansing is also in VERY RIGHT TRACT. Cup/Drink Holder, SELLS IN USA!!!!! Goo review as always and as a devoted loyal fan of all kind of Ion BT Speakers, then smaller (In size only) Wonderbooms, I must try to be a bit disloyal and betrayer, to try this black beauty baby!!!! All I don't understand is that large waterproof secret input component and its large door. But if they would include a fast wireless phone charge on the inner top compartment, then I would appreciate them a lot better. I seriously see potential for this in my boat that though has excellent audio system, I'm always at tension to use it when beaching or anchoring in middle of lack, just not to fully drain in board battery. I'm seriously considering getting one of these and thanks to your very nice, comprehensive review.

Thank you so much for sharing! I really appreciate it. I've been looking into battery speakers to replace my altec lansing thunder speakers 🙈 I'm not sure if I just bought them from a bad dealer on Amazon or the shipping people but right outta the box one had a huge crack above the tweeter so now I cover that with a plastic bag for just in case(pretty sad since I ordered them because they were ment to be slippage proof) . The 2nd's luggage collapsible handle broke as I tried extending it so I placed taped on it so it doesn't pinch skin. Then the battery or blue tooth / link keep dying on me making it so embarrassing trying to run a movie projector rental business mid way through a 1 hour movie and the audio cuts out and either just dies or turns back on only to be yelling out "welcome to altec lansing!" haha in a way it's kinda funny but really annoying especially when gemini just plays phone tag when I just want to buy a replaceable battery to check to see if it's that or a replaceable handle 🙈. Anyways just wanted to share my experience and hope it helps others with their decision making.

Thanks I just found one in a pawn shop no power supply but as I buy power supplies from Goodwill when I find them and found a lap top power supply had to cut wires to make plug work. It works good. I only had a 3amp power supply so may take twice the time to charge it as it calls for 5watt. Thanks for the video I have no book

Hi. I've had my Altec lansing expedition 8 for 2yrs. I don't play it much. Today I was playing it and then it turned off in 30mins. I connected the power cord and it won't switch on. Anyone know how to fix it?

So I found that if you keep it plugged in after it gets to full charge, it can freeze and you'll most likely have to wait until the battery drains again. I've had less issues once I started unplugging the speaker after full charge

These freeze, and a lot of folks can't figure out what to do. Some have luck by pressing the power button five times and then holding ten seconds. But this time, mine is frozen off but with the volume light on, regardless of whether it's plugged in. Nothing I try turns it off or resets.

Mine is doing the same but that happened when I try to pair more Bluetooth devices and sometimes I am playing some music and this shop for a second and then start it again and i don't like that but I think the Bluetooth in this speaker is terrible

Has anyone notice the bottom tweeter is off until you stand it upright then the it turns on and the bottom one shuts off ?? Why ?? What a design !!!

It's designed that way to sound better for a more symmetrical balanced stereo effect. You only need the 2 tweeters on based on how you lay it vertical or horizontal. Having all 3 on would mess up the stereo effect.

Altec will kill it when it comes to volume but if you sound quality get the JBL don't get me wrong the X850 is a beast it has great sound quality but if you want just a clean sound all around get the JBL.

@@expertislandHi Boss I've got a problem I have the same Altec Lansing Speaker. Recently I lost the power adapter that came with it rated at (5A - 15V). I bought a Variable one online (4.5A - 12V - 24V) which i plugged into my speaker just now. Upon turning the Power on the panel lit up followed by 2 large knocks or Thumps on the speaker. I realized my error I had forgotten to switch the Voltage down to 15V from 24V. Question: Did I just TRASH my speaker? Any hope fixing it or is it pointless to have it repaired? Thank You kind sir.

What is the true loudness of this speaker? I hear people say it's not as loud as they thought it was, then how loud is it in Db? I saw it on sale for half the price of a jbl partybox 300 so I was thinking of getting the altec lansing expedition 850 for the price and waterproofing.

I love these but, I've had 2 of them and eventually they stop playing. They turn off and you can't get them to turn back on. Then you end up with two huge pieces of plastic that are completely useless.

The original was 10x better than the 850. I own the original and its sounds way better and much louder. I bought the 850 cause it was cheaper but the price tag reflects the audio quality diminishing. The original Xpedition 800 was $500 and it's still going, I throw it in the lake all the time. I got the 850 for $250 and the audio is garbage even at 70% volume. I bought two to link together and even with two, it didn't beat out the original 800. Save your money and look elsewhere. Monster Rockin Roller speakers are $130-$150 and sound better and have better battery life, you can get two way better speakers for the price of this garbage.
