You know what's really insane about the Doom EP? They were like 14 when they recorded it.....that famous squeal on Entombment of a Machine was done by the bassist at the time who said he could no longer do it because he hit puberty after it was recorded. Long live the guitar solo on Entities

@@themetalmeltdownofficial Brent: We started recording albums when we were 16. We were 18 and 19 when we recorded "Genesis", and 21 and 22 when we recorded "Ruination". I honestly believe that we are still growing as people, our minds are expanding and we're still growing up and maturing. I hit puberty after "Doom", and I can't do high screams anymore. Jonny can still pig squeal but that whole girl scream on "Entombment of a Machine" - that was me, and I literally can't do that anymore because I hit puberty. So yeah, we're still growing up, and our next album is gonna be that much more mature and hopefully... tasty." Direct quote from the bassist during a 2010 interview

So it's good to hear there are some common minded people out there. I tune in almost every "Reviewing EVERY" video you make. Question for you! Have you heard Tómarúm - Ash in Realms of Stone Icons? It's a Progressive Black/Death album, and i think you would really like it if you haven't heard it yet.

Job for a Cowboy was one of the first metal bands associated with deathcore/death metal that I ever got into. I remember when I was a 13-year-old kid hearing the song Knee Deep for the very first time and my mind was blown. Later, I remember seeing JFAC with my mom at Heavy T.O. 2012 at Downsview Park in Toronto and I have a distinct memory of seeing a couple pushing their kid in a stroller with big headphones on and walking past them while they played their set. I too was blown away by the 2014 album. I almost bought it on CD quite a few years ago, but I decided against it and bought Death’s Human instead. Oh well.

Job For A Cowboy is an example of genre-bending but extremely consistent. Few discogs can match what JFAC has done so much of, and with so little. Doom - 8/10 Genesis - 9/10 (#5 of 2007) Ruination - 8/10 Gloom - 8/10 Demonocracy - 9/10 (personal favorite, #4 of 2012) Sun Eater - (#3 of 2014) Moon Healer hopefully will add to this short but sweet legacy!

Great video, man! I always felt that JFAC didn't get the credit they deserved. Hopefully, this new album will help change the discourse. Seeing them shortly after the Doom EP at a little tiny DIY venue that used to be a pizza place is a really solid memory for me. This must have been early 2006, After the Burial was there also. What a stupidly fun show.

I personally give Sun Eater a 5, I think that album deserves to be called (near) perfect. And id flip ruination and demonocracy. I think the riffs on demonocracy were a clear indication of what was to come in sun eater and were just generally better written than ruinations. However I'm not the biggest fan of the reverb on the vocals in demonocracy 😂

Job for a Cowboy is a band that I hold near and dear to me. I got into extreme metal back in high school because of them. I feel like out of the MySpace deathcore era from the 2000’s, they are the ones that evolved the most into something incredible. Whitechapel and Carnifex have changed some with Whitechapel incorporating more clean vocals and Carnifex incorporating black metal elements. However, I feel like Job for a Cowboy have changed the absolute most I honestly can’t wait for Moon Healer to come out and my rating for each album would be: Doom: 3/5 Genesis: 3.75/5 Ruination: 4/5 Demonocracy: 4.25/5 Sun Eater: 4.75/5

You guys are stuck in time... post Doom EP they were cultivating a quiet but very loyal fanbase with their change to death metal, and Sun Eater is one of the most acclaimed early 2010´s records, not only by core fans but to many people who are into tech-death stuff.

My era is the MySpace deathcore/crabcore days. And the DOOM ep was monumental in that scene. The hype was insane, unfortunately so was the disappointment of the quick pivot. Tbh I was in that camp and basically forgot about them for years until at Best Buy I saw the sun eater cd (yes ik) and bought it cuz fuck it. There hasn’t been an album since my early days getting to metal more influential to my musical taste. That album got me to listen to bands such as dying fetus, cannibal, suffocation and death. Probably one of my favorite metal albums period. Totally evolved my “core, breakdown” only mind into a completely different genre of metal. 🤘
