I switched my budgies to ground feeding after consulting my vet. One of my budgies has light arthrosis, so I wanted to make sure he does not have to lean down into a bowl, because it was causing him pain. The vet also recommended ground feeding because it's keeping them busy and I combined it with a bit of a forraging setup. They really seem to enjoy ground feeding, they are super relaxed and there is way less squabbling compared to the food bowls. They also don't seem to mind having to go to the ground of the cage to eat. When I switched them from bowls to ground feeding I made sure to be able to observe them and make sure they eat.

@@abali3952 i use a sort of box with shallow walls to limit the space where the food is scattered. Also I place it in the area of the cage that has way less perches so there is barely any poop there. (I set up the cage in a way that there are spaces with a lot of perches and spaces with barely any perches so they have some space for moving around)

@hailyjohnson407
@hailyjohnson407 2 жыл бұрын
@@deletedddddddddd I think the majority of people assume that things in a pet store labeled for a type of animal is safe for them. While I agree that you should always do your own research, there are still many dog owners that don't know the dangers of rawhide, or cat owners who don't know the danger of sting/yarn being ingested, etc. There are a lot of things that are common for a type of pet that are actually dangerous, but owners don't know until something goes horribly wrong. Someone may have done some research, but if nothing immediately is cautioned as dangerous, or if you look up each individual thing as "is this thing dangerous for this pet?" then you may not come across the info. The bigger issue is the companies selling these cheap and dangerous toys and products marketed for specific animals even after research shows its dangerous. I love how much more restrictive NZ, where Soda is from, is with their animal laws, and that their pet stores seem to be much better than American stores. In America, you'd be told by pet store employees that a 1 gallon fish bowl is fine for 1-2 goldfish. Obviously now I know how unknowledgeable those employees are, but if you're a new/young pet owner, they sound very knowledgeable, and you don't know any better.
@sodapets
@sodapets 2 жыл бұрын
I’ve had cotton rope toys before knowing they were bad too, even if you do research there are always things you might miss especially when cotton is so commonly used on so many bird toys. You can’t say that you’ve never made a mistake in pet care even after doing research
@somedwarf1059
@somedwarf1059 2 жыл бұрын
@@deletedddddddddd It was also that i underestimated the danger those toys could be. Even my vet told me that it isnt that common for birds to ingest those fibres, but apperently my bird did.

Okay, I could have find the information. I think you misunderstood/misinterpreted it. Fishbowl isn't forbidden in France. It's the number one of aquarium product, called 'AgroBiothers' , that decide to stop selling fishbowl and anti-barking collar. The reason is yes, it's because fishbowl is not good for fish. However, it's not forbidden meaning other store will still sold them, like I said, Jardiland...

I used to have two parrotlets (a male and female) and they had a happy hut that my parents had bought them. They both liked to sit at the very top where it was slanted, one day the female had apparently laid an egg while they were on the top and it rolled off and fell to the bottom of the cage where it broke. When we found out in the morning, we got rid of the happy hut. It was a sad day.

For a second I was like "ooh I could send my fish" but then I remembered... It's not good. And since it's actually my grandma's fish I can't change it. Also it's built into the wall. The tank was fine for the fish they had in like 2009 but those are long gone and they have multiplied... A lot. My grandma doesn't even care anymore. She still feeds them and cleans the tank but there are SO many baby fish of different births in there its unbelievable. If I could, I'd change it, of course, but they're technically not my fish. My grandma might be young but she also has to take care of the entire house while working. My grandpa and uncle literally do nothing.
@deletedddddddddd
@deletedddddddddd 2 жыл бұрын
you need to surrender those fish to animal control. over population of fish is just neglectful. theyre eventually going to die if you do nothing. which i guess will be good in your case because then you wont have to worry about the fish anymore.

@@deletedddddddddd I live in Germany and some of our neighbors have called animal control before and they literally saw nothing wrong with the fish (they were called because we had 10 loud puppies and the neighbors thought we abused our dogs) Again, not my fish, I have literally no say in that. I told my grandma before that's its not a good way to keep letting them birth new generations where half get eaten and definitely doesn't leave enough space in the tank anymore but she doesn't care anymore.

When I got my first two budgies (Took them over from a friend, I had 0 experience with birds then), I almost got to learn about the dangers of cotton the hard way... My friend used to keep a cotton string in the cage cause the hen Jenny liked to chew on it, so I just kept it in there. Fast forward a few weeks later I took her to the vet cause she seemed to have digestive issues. They checked her poop and it was full of teeny tiny cotton fibers. The vet informed me on the dangers of cotton being ingested then and gave me medication to help her pass the cotton that was still in her stomach. Luckily everything went fine, I took out the cottonstring immediately and Jenny was completely fine shortly after.

Could you make a video about how to pet-proof your home/room? That's always the biggest downside of owning pets for me and I look up how much damage they can do to my things. I tend to be very protective of my things, and I hate it when my things get destroyed and I have to fix them up, especially when they're expensive. For example, how can you protect your cables from being bitten? That's dangerous for pets as well if they bite through it - they can get electrocuted.
@Liesbeth22
@Liesbeth22 2 жыл бұрын
Ooh, they have certain wraps to go around the cables to protect them. And there's all sorts of creative ideas to work them away. Like tying all cables together and putting them in a box (box needs to whitstand yiur pet, a rat will chew right through cardboard, so tough wood or even metal would be better I suppose). It would indeed be a wonderful idea. All ninds of safety and protective measures for different types of animals. And she can tell us which ideas are indeed good and safe and doable. Love this idea 😍

I’m getting two mice on Saturday however my mom claimed she did research too but she described the cage she bought them and it’s one of those crappy kaytee cages I don’t know how to tell her it’s the wrong size especially since she paid $120 on it I just want the best for the mice. I’am an adult but I have autism. I love animals soo much I spend a lot of my free time learning about them. I know to some just telling your mom it’s not the cage is easy but for me I have trouble forming words and when I do sometimes it comes off as rude so I just need help on knowing what to say the cage comes Thursday.

i do know a lot of people think fishes and fishcare is cheap and don't need big tanks. i was in this group, thinking fish are cheap don't look expense as cat/dogs. after watch your videos and some others. i learn a lot and learn that I will never own fishes, which hurts

So I don't know too much about bird care but there's one thing I definitely know - never trust a pet store to tell you what cage is big enough, most pet stores allow their animals to live in cages that are way too small for them
@SpinexF7

@@miglek9613 the petstore didnt tell that lol im just asking if thats a ideal size for 1 cockatiel and lots of toys

@@SpinexF7 Not an expert, but just wanted to add that you should also be careful about the bar spacing of the cage because bigger cages can have a bar spacing that's too big. Your bird could get stuck which is very dangerous. Hopefully you can get your answers and safely prepare your cage! 🤗

It is pretty big for one cockatiel. Remind the space in bars and be aware of that

A lot of people give their fishes mosquito larvae to help improve the fish's color, breeding, and other stuff. So yea, it is safe to feed them that!
