I’m a collector of docs! Best tip I have is take them to a shoe repair place the second you get them and have them slightly stretch the leather, it saves about 95% of the break in pain because the stretching softens up the boots and sandals, I have the quad gryphons and had the exact same issues, after asking them to stretch the back of the toe strap I haven’t had any problems with them ☺️

As someone who owns 8 pairs of Docs (5 boots - Jadon, 2 sandals and 1 pair of shoes) you can tell I love the brand! 😀 My advice to anyone is to size up if between sizes. I’m a size 4.5 and my size 5s with an insole are far more comfortable than my 4s. My only regret is purchasing a cheaper pair of DM sandals (Voss) instead of Gryphon as they haven’t worn that well and miss distinctive yellow stitching.

I’ve got several pairs of 1460 boots. Two most worn are a khaki suede pair that Ofiice sold about a year ago (sound disgusting but work in the flesh and get so many compliments!) and a pair of Serena ones (faux fur lined). The Serena ones are just as comfy for my as trainers so tend to get used when I’m outside and know I’ll be walking loads. I keep my Jadons more for times when I want to be dressed up. My shoes are classic 1461 in black patent and perfect for the few times I have to go into the office. Sandals are Voss and Blaire but did take a cheeky plunge and ordered gryphon quad as well after seeing this! All my DMs are much loved! Only other brand I’ve bought so many pairs of is Birkenstock as their sandals are the only ones I can wear when it’s super hot!! x

Very comfy but as Jess said the gryphon quad are incredibly heavy and you do notice the weight. Still love though.

Great video! I just got a pair of Gryphon sandals off Vinted for £40 that have maybe been worn twice max, so definitely keep an eye on resell sites ✨ also 100% agree that the double doc socks are worth it, though not for warm weather!

cool review. I wear the Jadon's often.. they're perfect for hiking and long walks. I got the vegan version. Only downside is I hit my head on doorframes when im wearing them in house lol

Have to admit, I think I prefer trainers or proper walking boots for hikes but they definitely work well for long distance if you need them for the day x

I’m a huge fan of Dr Martens platform boots and shoes and recently fell in love with the Gryphon sandals but been quite hesitant wether or not to make the investment 👀 (still unsure about the sandals because I don’t wanna go through the pain even though none of my docs caused me even the slightest pain lol)

I think the pain is such a personal thing BUT with any genuine leather shoe there's a level of discomfort because they have to be worn down to soften! x

Bought my leather DOC shoes in 2001 I am 61 had many a pair. They were such quality!

I agree the double layer socks are amazing but to wear them the shoes must ½ to a full size bigger as th3 socks are thick..

I think it depends on the person! I have true to size docs and the doc socks are totally fine! X

lol i just got the gryphon gladiators but my family keeps saying that they’re ugly but i think they’re cute so i want to keep them :)

Try dusting a little baby powder on top of your foot and on pressure areas and that helps x

I have both of them and the Jadon still hurt me and I had them for more than 2 years I believe. The sandals are very narrow at the front, it feels like my feet are suffocating. The front strap should be a bit loose but it's very narrow.

I saw some vids from a cobbler Rose anvill here on you tube and he examined and cut the dr martens and it is cheap leather, so that why it’s hard and not flexibel. I got some martens with soft leather but had some before I could never walk in and sold them. And they did not build in a shank so the shoe will collapse eventually and makes you tired feet. But I still love my martens.

I find they come up big. I'm usually a 4 in boot but I got a size 3 and they fit perfectly. I bought second hand fur lined ones and from day one I was able to wear them barefoot.

I think it depends on the shoe you buy, as some styles are true to size! I found both of these really true to size xx

@@Jessmsheppard I have to size down to a 3 in any shoe or sandals, tinyfeet and narrow ankles. I'm really pleased I found you on here. I've only ever really used KZfaq for music before. I've just discovered fashion vlogs and I'm hooked. It's great to get others opinions on how clothes, fit look and are styled. I absolutely love your style. You can't beat a baggy jumper, and I still wear boot in summer. Looking forward to checking out your other videos and what's to come. I hope you have a wonderful in France xx

Hi Jess. I would like to ask if you perhaps managed to fix the tongue of the one boot that warmed to the one side? Mine did the same thing and frankly, I think it's a flaw with probably the majority of the Jadon boots as I see almost everybody with at least one tongue that isn't aligned. I didn't think of warming it to realign the tongue, but before I try, I thought to ask if you had any success yourself? TIA. =) P.S. Recently discovered your channel and I am enjoying it soooo much. Keep on keeping on!

To be honest - I haven’t really tried! It doesn’t bother me but I’m sure there will be solutions online because there’s always easy ways to retrain leather xx

@@Jessmsheppard Thank you so much for coming back to my comment. =) I did try warming them up with my hairdryer and realigning the tongue after seeing your suggestion. I definitely saw some improvement, but I packed them away as I stay in South Africa. #HelloSpring I will work on realigning the leather when I wear them again as it bothers me a bit. :) I now also own the Gryphon Quads all thanks to your influence. Still enjoying all your content, here and IG and thoroughly being influenced by your style.

I really want this gryphon quad pair, but I have read a lot of comments complaining about how heavy these shoes are, and difficult to walk. That's why I'm a little bit hesitant to purchase. Do you know how much each shoe weigh?

Im sure the weight will be online but personally I don't find them too heavy and absolutely not difficult to walk in! :)

i’m thinking of getting the gryphon sandals as i really want some dm sandals. i have the 8053 shoes (i think that’s the number) and i absolutely adore them they’re so cute and so many people say they’re so nice etc and also the classic 1460 boots but i do get really bad blisters but i think it’s because of my ankles as i do have very boney feet😂 this was a good video though as i wanted to see what they looked like more “in the flesh” than a photo :)

I have Jadons and they hurt so bad😭 i finally found a way to wear them so they don’t hurt so much but it’s still a very difficult shoe to wear

I’ve never ever had pain in mine and they’re the most comfy boots I’ve got. Use the tips I mention and they don’t hurt 🤣

Would the gryphons be good for wide feet? the widest part of my foot is about 10,5 cm and I've been struggling with finding suitable sandals :( I also literally just got the Blaire's in the mail and they didn't fit around the middle strap which is really disappointing.

I honestly don’t know because I struggle with the opposite - mine are too narrow for most shoes haha! The straps are adjustable so I guess they’d be worth a try?
