Reviewing the NicPro STAY WET PALETTE // Acrylic gouache painting demo

I mainly paint minis these days, so this is a great product. I am not so happy with the army painter stay wet palette, but this one looks great. And yes, for mini painting we fully soak the sponge for two main reasons: 1. We use very small amount of paint usually that can dry out fast 2. We almost always thin out the paint with a little water (or medium), to paint on the thinnest layer possible onto the model.

I have an amazing airtight palette that doesn't need water and it keeps my paint moist for days and If I were to use a damp sponge it would keep the paints longer. And its a neutral grey which I love for mixing. The con of my palette is that it's meant to be for oils and acrylics and since it's plastic, it was made to be "peel of easy" and It's true that acrylics peel of really easy when they dry up. Which ends up being a bad thing because it's so smooth that sometimes while mixing paint, the moisture of the paint and the movement of the brush kind of re moistens the dried paint and it starts peeling, so you end up with chunks of dry acrylic in your mixes. I guess I could sand the surface a bit to avoid that, but I can't bring myself to damage it it's so smooth and clean It's the Mijello Artelier Airtight Peel off Pallete for Acrylic and Oil Color
