I really appreciate this episode as I just finished my first pair of customs using an old pair of KSwiss. It was inspiring to see the different takes for first time efforts. None were anything like the direction I chose; that truly shows that this is just another surface to express your personal artistic vision. No need to fear trying shoes, any more than you should fear a canvas or wall.

Im sure there are many 10 year olds out there trying their best and working their hardest to be seen. Its fortunate that evan was noticed when marko gave him a chance to paint shoes for him, yet there are many many talented artist out there that have been yet to be noticed. I just feel that nowadays its less of the quality of art work but really about the clout. The moment you get one viral post or you get a shoutout , everything starts snowballing from there. Just my two cents

Seeing that 10 year old kill it at his age, is discouraging.....but then I think of the Story of how KFC started, and Colonel Sanders, and how he didn't even start the business until he was in his mid 60's, and that gives me courage lol. I love that story because it reminds me that its never too late :).

I just ordered the beginners pack, 2 thin, duller, tape and a 12 colour assortment pack, going to give this a go!! Hope I haven't forgotten anything to paint the swoosh and toe box on AF1's.....i kinda got excited and rushed through what I thought I needed lol. When I receive it I'll watch some of your videos again!! Going for a surf theme, I'm in australia what do I google to find a local stencil maker? Don't really want to buy one myself just yet....

Hey D, what kind of finish do you think was used on Evans shoe's? Was it matte? And also if I use duller in paint would I still need a matte or flat finisher? Also say I painted a panel like a matte black and then painted say linework roses on it would that A: look right, B: If it did work the matte finisher would the shine right out of the line work correct or not? No there was still quite a bit of gloss on em.. there was no finisher on em, just the natural sheen from the paints . You don’t need to use duller anymore the finishers are super matte nowadays whether you use 4coat or the liquid kicks topcoat . If you wanted to use a matte black paint and then do linework you could mix a smidge of gloss finisher into the paint

Hey love your work! I have a question. I see in your videos sometimes you use paint brushes sometimes you use airbrush. How do you decide when to use the airbrush or use a paintbrush. Bc I watch your videos and sometimes ask why didn’t he just airbrush that....

Great question, I think it would vary from time to time depending on the job.. but as a rough blanket answer if I’m just painting something solid one color I’ll use a paintbrush , but if I’m ever doing a gradient or creating texture I’ll use an airbrush. And then all fabrics are better off airbrushed also
