thanks for the review, Becca. as far as water soluable graphite goes, i really love the Viarco ArtGraf. i bought the little puck that comes in a metal tin, but it also comes in sticks and pencils. it mixes with watercolor and once dry it does burnish really well with a tissue and you can erase it, anthough you'll never get the paper fully back to white.

The spoon burnishing does work on the graphite paints-you should use the curved sides of the spoon, and it takes more than one or two casual strokes! "Burnishing" means rubbing. Paper might be a factor. My understanding is that none of these Japanese pigments are really formulated to mix or to layer. They come from an ink-based tradition and reflect a culturally different approach to mark making. Good point about the black granulation + too bad the Shadow set isn't more widely available as it seems to perform most like European watercolors. I have never seen any of the graphite products advertised as "erasable." I have them all and love them (including Derwent) but for a sketchier, more realistic style. They create an effect like hand-colored photographs.

I loove the noku undo sets 🥰 I keep them together in one palette and added few bright regular colors

I had to just listen to certain parts of this video due to the sway of the camera! I'm not sure why but it induces nausea really bad in me! I guess it's motion sickness 😢

Erasing is an unfair expectation of these products with added graphite. I don't know why you consider it a "selling point" when it was a self-made assumption and not an advertised property of the product.

Where can I order the Japanese paper you used? The link for Boku Undo (shadow) paints not working.

Hi Becca, I have 2 out of 3 from. I recently bought the 6 color set tan. I was wondering if the original set was different so now I know it is. I will buy it to use it for the fall/winter seasons. Thanks!

I use a metal spoon to buff the graphites.
