Revisiting Over 50 PSP Games: Are They Still Fun?

10 ай бұрынIn this video, I'm revisiting 50 PSP games that I played when I was younger.
This video took a lot longer to make than I exptected, but I don't know what I was expecting when I was playing over 50 psp games, just to see if they still hold up. A lot of them are still surprisingly fun, ranging from racing, action, rpgs, platformers etc, so check out the video if you want to find out which ones are still fun, and which ones don't hold up!
Looking back on my past PSP games, I have to say that I'm a little surprised at how much I still enjoy them. Even though I'm older and have more experience with games now. Maybe the games just do genuinely hold up well. Regardless of why, I thought it would be fun to revisit these old games and see if they hold up to my nostalgic memories or if they're just as fun as I remember them being.

This video was crazy good. Please consider revisiting the gba and NDS too, cuz I really wanna emulate games of those systems too, and a video like this would severely help.

Been replaying a lot of classic psp games on the ps5 recently reminds me how fun gaming used to be no matter how absurd. Also if you’re into tactics games try out tactics ogre, Jeanne d’arc, and both trails in the sky games.

Really appreciate that! I absolutely do plan on sprinkling videos like that in here and there. They are time-consuming, though, and with silly ol work also being a thing, I don't know when I'll next manage to do another big list like this. @@HA-Z1 Fully understandable as to how time consuming they are. Also work can be a pain, can relate. A list that long isn't completely necessary, could always go for even as low as 5 games, a minute each, and that would still probably be fine. :D

You should check out Everybody's Golf/Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee. So simple yet so engaging and fun, the sequel Open Tee 2 doubles the course and character count to 12 and 20 respectively. Great video btw fine sir!

Had a psp,.never played it so i sold it. Got another psp when the 2000s came out and never played it. Got a modded vita last year and now I can't stop playing either one. Love them both. Got a switch oled before that so that's probably where it started.

Had to stop inbetween to say that i'm surprised you still like Burnout but not Flatout anymore, haha. The PSP is the reason i first got to know about these games and now i'm playing quite a lot of Flatout: Ultimate Carnage on my Steam Deck. It's still one of the best racing games ever imo - next to Burnout. Which i also have to replay at some point :D. But i suppose if it was mostly for the mini games that you enjoyed and not the actual racing itself, maybe Flatout just isn't your thing, which is perfectly fine of course (it's not, not at all 😤)

@HA-Z1 Oh what? Huh, that's curious 😄. They felt the same to me (well, the PSP and PC version) - but it's been a while since i've played the PSP version since it's obviously inferior. But i might at some point, maybe it actually does feel different nowadays, compared to UC on PC.

Syphon Filter Dark Mirror/Logan's Shadow are great. I'm glad they along with the excellent PS1 trilogy are playable on PS4/PS5 with trophies. Same for Pursuit Force and its sequel. I played through the PS4 remake of Medievil last year. I haven't played the PSP remake. Sony added that one along with the PSP remake of Ape Escape this past month to PS4/PS5. Worth a play? Didn't see any PSP FPS games in this video. Any of them still hold up? Not sure given that the PSP only had one analog stick unlike the PS Vita.

I've been a fan of medievil since the ps1, and have played the ps4 remake as well, I still enjoyed the psp one! Controls take some getting used to, though! Also, on the note of fps games, I do think the vita did them better, as you said that extra analog makes it more comfortable, I never really played any on psp tbh. Only king kong and medal of honor ( to my recollection) Medal of honor was slower than I remember, and I didn't enjoy it as much as I used to

@HA-Z1, I may check it out then. I was hoping they'd remake Medievil 2 as well. I think there were more FPS games on PSP than on PS Vita. It's weird that Sony only gave the PSP one analog stick. Dual analog controllers were the norm by then. Then again most Nintendo handhelds didn't have them back then. Sounds like that Medal of Honor could use a remaster. We could use more 3rd party support for remastering classic games. Since you liked Syphon Filter Dark Mirror and Logan's Shadow, check out Resistance Retribution for PSP. Same dev. Killzone Liberation is also fun. The PS4/PS5 remaster includes the dlc that concluded its campaign.

A remake of the second one would be great! I don't really see it happening, though. I might be remembering wrong, but I remember seeing somewhere that the first one didn't do as well as they thought it would. I hope I get proven wrong, though! It definitely took some getting used to using buttons instead of an analog to aim, but it was still do-able, so there absolutely could've been more fps games. Just a shame that the ps vita didn't take off as much as it should've too! Resistance retribution was always on my wishlist, I just never got around to it, so I may check that out at some point! Same with killzone!

For FPS games, Ghost in the Shell is pretty good once you find a control scheme that works for you. Otherwise there is Star Wars Battlefront and a homebrew port of Doom.

I love the recomendations, just a nickpick, I would love to hear wich games have a PS2 version so I could play those instead, we are now in a time when emulating PSP or PS2 is relatively easy and just for that, King Kong PSP doesn't feel like a good recomendation anymore.

That's fair! It's definitely something I should have added into the video. So the ones that also came out on ps2 King kong Tony Hawks underground 2 (psp one is actually better as it has more content) Tony Hawks Project 8 Star wars, force unleashed psp one has more content) The gta stories games Smackdown vs. raw games The syphon filter games (came out on ps2 after they were successful on psp, I believe) Pursuit force extreme justice (I dno if there's any difference, I only played the psp one) Ssx on tour (definitely better on ps2 as it had free roam) X-men legends 2 Dynasty warriors are better on ps2 From Russia with love (never played the ps2 one) Tomb raider legend Lego Star Wars 2 I'm sure I have missed some, but these are ones that are definitely on ps2 as well. I totally forgot I ever owned a YuGiOh game until I saw this video. Also, disappointed I never got Underground 2 on PSP after watching this. That is the best Tony Hawk.

I've played spiderman as well, I just forgot about it 😩 only twisted metal I've played is twisted metal black on ps2. It seems I've been missing out on some good games
