When I had considered doing this video in the past, it was going to be on a much more positive note. Chris Ballard doing outstanding work in undoing a lot of the damage done by the Grigson/Pagano tenure. Andrew Luck all but putting 2017 behind him by returning to form as an elite quarterback. The Colts surging at the end of the year to emerge as a legit playoff contender.
And then the bill came due for Andrew Luck's damages. They killed him. They finally finished the job they started when they drafted him. The Colts deserve nothing. They deserve no success nor any other franchise quarterbacks to ruin (for those of you keeping track, the number is at four, if you count Jeff George as one of those ruined).
This situation is simply depressing, and there are no winners here. Only those that need to be blamed for destroying a promising career.

I like to think that the fans weren't booing Luck. We loved Luck almost as much as #18 St. Peyton Manning. I like to think they were booing Grigson and that horrible asshole Irsay for their completely incompetent running of the team. The O-Line has more holes than Swiss cheese? Better draft another skill position and not, I dunno, people that know what "blocking" is. Now Rivers is in the glue factory.

@clark2501
@clark2501 5 жыл бұрын
While I agree somewhat, it takes a lot more than having a good QB to win SBs. Hell even Brady has never won a SB with a scoring defense ranked below 8th in the league. The only 3 QBs that have won with scoring defenses ranked 20th or lower this century are Drew Brees, Eli Manning, and Peyton Manning. While having a good QB will keep you competitive for a long time, having a good/great defense is more likely to win you a championship, at least in the short term. All that you’d need at that point is a solid game manager that holds on to the ball.
@1baby12bear

As a Packer fan, it is only slightly less depressing as having two generational QB's over 20 years and only having 2 SB's to show for it. QB's can carry a team, but only so far.
@yetz2291
@yetz2291 4 жыл бұрын
@@1baby12bear Yeah. The biggest difference, I think, is that most of the Packers failure isn't the organization's fault . Yeah, they haven't had incredible offensive firepower, but that wouldn't have mattered if the Packers had been able to stop Terrell Davis, or the defense had stopped The Eagles on 4th and 26, or if Favre hadn't picked the worst time to throw an INT in 2007, or if McCarthy run the ball against the Giants, or the team had recovered the onside kick against Seattle. It gets to a point where it eventually feels like the football gods are thinking up random bullshit to stop Favre and Rodgers from getting the rings that Brady has. The organization has done its best for the most part(other than maybe the recent Love pick, which was odd, to say the least). The Colts have done their best to wreck both Peyton and Luck themselves.

Poor Andrew Luck. Irsay said a near career ending shoulder injury was all in Luck's head 🤦🏻‍♂️, and Irsay never fired the GM and Coach that let Luck get completely pummeled until they did serious damage to him. He was one of, if not the nicest people in the league, and he carried terrible team after terrible team, and did it while running for his life every play. He had injuries galore, he had to go to rehab here and rehab there until it was just too much for him, and it even did mental damage to him. I completely understand and respect his decision. With all of this in mind, what's his send off? Booing from his own fans. So sad. I hope your retirement is very pleasant, Andrew.

Same here. I only follow Football via sports news, kind of understand the game, know a little football history and rarely watched it. I'm more of an NBA fan, but I know a sports atrocity when I see one and this is truly a sports atrocity. You can get explain this to a damn cricket, soccer or rugby fan from across the pond and even they understand that this a sport atrocity. This is really bad. Something has to give with the NFL, the way the league is being run is killing the sport.

@@blkplaguelmc With Chris Ballard having an actual plan and building around him? It's possible. Irsay still would have been an obstacle, but with a master architect of a GM and a QB with the talent and football IQ of Andrew Luck, plus a coaching staff that got the team to massively overachieve, it seems like an eventuality that they'd break through. The asterisk here is that this seeming inevitability is really based solely on last season. So much changes from year to year in this league, including the conditions that allowed the Colts to look like a dark horse team a la the '07 Giants. Assuming, however, their trajectory would have resembled the Manning-era Colts... Well, those Colts *did* win a ring and got a chance at another one. I think it's unfair to write off the possibility of even one, but I think it's naive to think he'd get more than three or four chances, let alone all of them being wins.

His retirement was one of the most shocking and saddest days I can remember in football. I’m a Jets fan but Luck was one of my favorite QBs in the league to watch. Very few QBs could raise the rancid sewage that was the Colts roster to the level of playoff contender like he could. Until the roster and structure got so bad it left him bloodied and broken. I will forever loathe Grigson and Irsay for failing to help Luck. What good are 30 something running backs and 5th receivers gonna do when a defense can’t stop anybody and cardboard cutouts of the o-line would be more useful than Luck’s actual linemen?! Those 2 chuckle-fucks were gifted the generational of generational QBs and they abused him while Luck stayed the humble good soldier and didn’t complain. Makes me sick to my stomach because I hate when teams ruin talent because of incompetence (know full well what that’s like from watching the Jets my whole life but I’m optimistic about this year’s team). Which means Jacksonville is on alert now with Trevor. If you ruin him Jaguars, we will all ruin you!

You can’t take the high road with us because guarantee If your teams star quarterback or players retired in the middle of having a bright future you would be pissed at first too. Now that some time has past we honor his career and respect his decision. So say all you want about the colts management, but you can’t group the whole fan base and say we don’t deserve anything. The fault is not on your fair city but the Coach and GM incompetence Luck was cursed with a notable part of his career. He still loves football. He still loves your city. He really did not want to retire but he had no choice. Feel bad for an honest man with an awesome beard (I also just noticed he was born in my hometown and now I even more sad). Feel bad for Chris Ballard a man that was doing a damn good job fixing the damage the previous GM/Coach duo did. Sadly, he couldn't fix the biggest done to the most important position. Feel bad For Frank Reich, a comeback specialist as a player, a talented offensive coordinator that got the Eagles a Lombardi Trophy. These two men are also victims of this travesty. And who's the cause? The terrible trio that is Grigson, Pagano, and Irsay. In his first Head Coaching Job, Chuck Pagano sure as shit failed. Now a D. Coordinator where he belongs, and will hopefully stay there. Ryan Grigson is a horrible executive but is amazing at ruining a Quarterback's career. Fortunately, Schneider and Carrol will keep him away from Russel Wilson. And Jim Irsay. *Jim. Fucking. Irsay.* It really is no surprise that he called a career-threatening injury to his franchise quarterback as being all in his head, being caught with cocaine, and gave no shits about the organization for so long. The Irsay family have been fucking this team since 1972. And before I forget, I feel sorry for you, the residents of Indianapolis Indiana. While I have never met anyone from there, a city that has the Indianapolis Motor Speedway has to have some pretty awesome residents. It pains me that you are similar to Browns and Bills fans. Great loyal fanbases of dumpster-fire organizations. Also, sorry for making such a long reply wow!

KMC I’d say it depends as long as we at at least keep Ballard as GM I would say colts would do the most to protect the QB as much as possible. Colts held the best O-Line last year.

Donald Applebee I get where you’re going but the Colts O-Line might be the best in the league now thanks to some great drafting, acquisitions and player development in the Chris Ballard era. The dude really turned around that franchise in 2 years.

Tree you're right, I don't nor will I ever blame Luck, that dishonor is solely for Grigson and Irsay. But I also want it noted that a significant amount of our fan base has condemned the clowns who booed the poor man. Even though we probably deserve it, I don't want us to suffer, and I don't want the talented young players to suffer either. But I will root for them if it happens, because I've known only love for the Colts and the players who still give their all despite our embarrassing owner. Please don't punish us too.😢
