hi sir Ruben, I have a question, i follow the steps and instructions but when I imported the file to SketchUp the model has colors, not in monochromatic even I unchecked the color by layer, what do you think is the reason is? or its because the ssketchup version? --- revit2019 and Sketchup pro 2019

What do you use to remove the Triangulations in the terrain after it was imported to SketchUp, as to retain the contour lines only?
@rubenborup Жыл бұрын
Hi Duane, If you right-click the terrain group, you can select Soften/Smooth Edges - then adjust the slider in the pop-up window as needed. Retaining just the contour lines is a bit more tricky - you'll have to hide individual edges of the terrain (eraser tool + Ctrl key) - I've done this before but it's a big effort. Hope this is helpful. /Ruben.

Hi, do you have to have autoCAD installed on your computer in order to export the revit model as a DWG for it to go into sketchup?
@rubenborup3 жыл бұрын
No AutoCAD install needed.

Hi Ruben !! Really formidable help !!! I have a question . After I importa the revit project into Sketchup, is posible to modify the walls for example in sketchup as always ? Thanks so much for the answer
@rubenborup3 жыл бұрын
Hi Karlita, When you've imported the DWG into SketchUp, it'll work like any other SketchUp geometry, so yes. I believe the imported model is grouped, so you might have to explode the group in order to edit the geometry. Make sure to keep the remaining groups so your walls won't stick to the floor and what not - groups keep the geometry organized and you just have to double click a group to edit the geometry. Cheers, Ruben.

Thanks Ruben very helpful and it worked easily. Following your instructions the Revit model came in monochromatic with no texture/material information. Just confirming that the workflow is all texture/material assignments start over in Sketchup, or am I missing something? The next work flow is rendering in Enscape which works seamlessly in SU. Thanks Again!
@rubenborup754 жыл бұрын
Hi there, happy to hear that the workflow is useful to you. Yes, in terms of materials and textures, it's a start over in SketchUp. Frankly I don't mind that at all as textures and texturemapping in Revit is rather cumbersome compared to SketchUp. Happy rendering!

when i import the revit file in skp it only imports the plan not the 3d model ..whats the reason??
@fa-dr1vh2 жыл бұрын
because you exported the plan in revit and not the 3d model. when you export make sure you are in the 3d view

this didnt work for me, it doesnt open on sketchup....
@rubenborup Жыл бұрын
Hi Michelle, I’ll need a bit more info to help you out. Maybe check your export settings in Revit once again? Maybe your Revit file is very detailed/complex? I just followed the video instructions again and I had no problems.
@macpornpat81265 жыл бұрын
well it would be alot better if the flow could be from sketch up to revit lol....
@rubenborup5 жыл бұрын
Haha, I agree. You can always export your SketchUp model to .dwg and import that into Revit as I did in a previous video. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/laeAntR819W8p4E.html
@godlysunny18964 жыл бұрын
@@rubenborup And how would that work/help? As that would be a model with no information of it's own, just that would be a mass with no attributes of being a beam, a slab etc. That workflow doesn't make sense.
@rubenborup4 жыл бұрын
@@godlysunny1896 Yes, you are correct. There is no BIM information in the SketchUp model in the first place so the imported model will serve as a reference geometry.
