Thanks Rahdo. Great series of videos on this game. I *finally* tracked down a copy and was able to play it for the first time yesterday, but the wait was worth it. One of the best games I've played this year.

I wish the map would scale for different player count. I wish decision making was a bit tighter. Tbh those ligthing bonus actions make the game so easy, not to mention your character bonus... And lastly, I wish there was more interaction between players. Something like as it is in Terra Mystica: benefit moe when other build where you are present etc. All in all, it's a solid 8. much better than a lot of generic overstuffed euros these days, but not even close to Federation and Carnegie, if we are talking about 2022

I love this theme... gives hope to the future! And such a pretty game too! :)

Love not only the theme but also that it's a different world with alien nations. Feels like I can believe that they would make better choices compared to humans (maybe because we are so used to post-apocalypse humans just becoming barbarians after collapse and always using guns and violence instead of building real communities) Gonna watch the runthrough for sure :)

I finished reading the rules this mornng and this game really appealled to me (way more that what the short description said). Your thoughts, and especially how the game gets deeper the the campaign and everything is the race just finshed to convince me that I'm gonna get this one ! Thanks!

Can't wait for this to be released in October. I doubt it'll fit on my table though 🤔

I think you've typically expressed a preference for tight games that make you work hard for what you get over more forgiving games that shower you in resources and points. The final turn in the extended runthrough had lots of stuff getting done (so much that you multiple times realize that there was something you didn't do or something you missed with more potential), and your final thoughts indicate that this is par for the course in the mid-to-late game. Do you expect that with more plays the late game would turn into too much of a good thing in a way that would drop it for you from its current high while it's new and shiny? The runthrough is great for getting a feel for the game, but seeing only one of these turns doesn't give much sense of whether they will be fun or overdone at game five.

i don't think so, but it is certainly something you avhe to bear in mind with my videos that i usually haven't gotten more than a handful of plays by the time i film my runthrough. i did play this one more than normal however because of the 'mini-campaign' and i didn't find it to be a problem. the thing to bear in mind is that the end of the game comes up on you really quickly... it doesn't tend to linger and let you do super turns over and over for the final third of the game :)

Thanks for the response. I had understood (assumed/extrapolated) what you said in the videos to mean that these big turns were how the final third or even half of the game was. Thanks for clarifying that that's not how it is!

Is rahdo always positive for every game? It’s hard to know if one would be a good purchase? I don’t want to spend money on soenthing that’s not worth it. There’s value in positive comments, but the negative is also very important

Well, you will find the same very problem in almost every single influencer's channel of any topic you can imagine. However, in games, if you have been in the hobby for some time, the playthroughs that Rahdo is doing are great to get the feeling of the game and see if you like it or not. I usually judge a game by three elements: arts&quality, game mechanics, time usage. Based on that, I take decisions on what games to buy. In a video where I can see the components and arts, how is played, and see how long it takes to play, I have all elements I may need to decide. The fact that Rahdo does a short introductory video, a longer playthrough and a final thoughts as separate videos is a great idea also. I generally see his introductions and if they get my curiosity, then I see the others. Other times I just jump into the final thoughts before spending longer time in the other videos. But back to the topic, if you expect critical reviews, I think will be hard to find them. Not only in Rahdo's channel, but in most channels.

Rahdo tends not to even cover games he won't like, hence why his final reviews appear to skew positively. Statistically if he only covers games he likes then his reviews will only ever be positive. I tend to take the fact that he's even reviewed it as a sign that it may be something I will like.

Its kind of similar on how steam reviews are for most games quite positive, because people will rarely buy games they don't know.

Well after first play (mind that) there is little to no 'let's cooperate' feel in this game. Its a very tight and very squeezy race for points where players cherry pick from each other, more often than not, stealing lucrative spots. So please don't be miss guided by the theme and what Rahdo said. If you are looking for a more peacfull and almost cooperative game where you together build better future - this is wrong address. Second thing first impression - maybe it's intended or maybe not but I see serious imbalances between factions. And I am quite experienced euro player. Maybe I am wrong and it's just the first game, maybe it was intended but in my gaming group we all agreed that the faction are not equally good. Not even close. Beside that game is very bautifull more tactical than strategical. I am very glad I watched Rahdos clip and had a chance to have a play. At first I was super crazy to buy it and play more (after playthrough) but now after the real play... Well I think I will look for something more appealing to me. Still good game, no doubt about it.

sure it's still a competitive game. but you never use the workers that other people put along the top of their board, helping yourself and them in the process? that's what i was referring to with the "working together" part of the game. but yes, it's still a land grab race for sure :)
