What is your favorite decade for vintage fashion?

My favorite decade is from 1940/1949 (my mother was born in 1941 and I was born in 1968) My grandmother live in that time and she told me how women dressed, very feminine and elegant.

I love 1910s, but I'm branching out to the 20s-50s so I can wear them in real life.

The dress turned out beautiful! The fit is much more relaxed than I thought it would be. The vintage styles were so much more beautiful and feminine than modern ones.

I have several antique and vintage singers, treadle and electric. I love my singer 201. It sews a dream. Apparently rolls Royce used to use them for their upholstery

It looks fantastic. I like a variety of different decades. Lately, I've been sewing mid-1960s. It reminds me of the 1940s because it's a return to a-line shapes.

The Japanese mid century sewing machines were fantastic. They were built like tanks and should be easy enough to get one at a good price.

I like patterns from the 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s. I like the details in the patterns. I am currently working on Vogue 7174 from 1999. Next, 😊month I will start Simplicity 8747, which is a reproduction pattern from the 1950s.

I have a 1960 simplicity button down. Pattern 4056. I was hoping you could tell me what the ease might be? Also do you know what sewing bust they are sized to? I am assuming a B. Thanks.
@MirandaSews

I'm not sure without seeing the pattern, but in my search for vintage patterns, the 1960s patterns I've seen all the way up to a size 23 1/2 and maybe higher. I usually wear a size 20 with a 42 inch bust, size 22 is usually 44 inches for the bust in the 1960s patterns and it goes up from there. The good news though is that the style is more boxy so you could try a mock up (practice blouse) to find out if what you have will work. I have upsized patterns before though it can be a bit tricky. Anyway, I hope that helped.

Also, according to the vintage sewing books I've read it's important to choose the pattern based on your bust size for the best fit when it comes to dresses and blouses. Whenever I do that, I don't seem to have an over abundance of ease, but I've heard that modern patterns often can and maybe that is why they often list ease directly on the pattern package.

You should make a tea cosy to keep the teapot warm. Did you have milk in your teapot? That’s unusual. I think lady great and earl grey are usually made without milk and milk not usually put in teapot, funny how different countries do things differently. I love 1940s fashion but have never made something from the era

A tea cosy...that's a great idea! Yes, I like just a splash of milk so sometimes I just put it in the pot from the beginning.Haha..I'm sure it's not the "correct" way, but it works for me.
