I'm reviving my crustiest, nastiest paint palette to make a painting. This gouache palette has 56 crusty old colors that need some care. Let's reactivate everything and make a painting! I've been wanting to use this Miya Jelly Gouache set again for a while, and it feels good to have FINALLY gotten the motivation to do so!

Your painting is so beautiful & festive! My faith is absolutely the most important thing in my life. I celebrate Christmas & come from a long line of Christians. At least 4 generations before me are children of God. My favorite holiday used to be Easter because it entirely focused on God without all of distracting commercialism that surrounds Christmas. My mother had a brain aneurysm on Good Friday & joined the Lord on Easter, so now finding pure joy around that time is difficult. I hope your family really enjoys this Christmas with the twins. I imagine they're becoming becoming more aware of their surroundings & may be old enough to enjoy the season. Merry Christmas Christmas, Miranda!

Hello! My favorite holiday is Christmas too 😊 I consider myself Christian mostly (but I do struggle with my faith often) but I know this time of year means many things to many people. I am a total style hopper and have ADHD so sticking to one style, or medium makes me feel like my skin is crawling, I’m creative and want to play. I’ve also been thinking a lot like this community feels safe. I don’t want a niche style I want to live creatively forever. The freaking pressure in the art community to have one style took away my creative edge for a long time and stole my joy and honestly art is fun!

Last night, I just got a water spray bottle and sprayed the palette and just let it set. In just a few minutes, the top of the paints were completely usable again. 😊

Fellow style-hopper here. Folk art, realism, surrealism, illustration, cartoon, abstract, collage.... wherever the inspiration takes me that day. I also explore different mediums. I have two Instagram accounts: One is mostly realism while the other is more experimental and explorative! I celebrate the spirit of Christmas such as the acts of kindness and generosity, the lights and decorations, the food, and people putting their differences aside. That doesn't always happen but when I catch those moments, I really do appreciate them. Thanks for sharing your beautiful art.

You have to soak your Himi gouache overnight with warm water, then stir it up and you are good. It will not be as opaque as it was before because it dried up! Beautiful painting!

I like a lot of holidays. I just don’t have the same feeling for them anymore. Honestly, I’m really struggling this year. I just lost a job I love because the administrators were not nice. They had me terminated the day after my birthday. Also, my mom died on New Year’s Eve in 2015. I haven’t felt the same about the winter holidays since. I did enjoy watching you paint, Mira.

A style hopper picture with one of your bunnies would be awesome!! 🐇🩷 This is a very lovely Christmas folk art piece!! 🤗🥰 Christmas has always been my favorite. 🎄 I would love to see how you clean your crusty brushes and palettes, your favorite most effective methods!! 🙏 Also, to watch you thoroughly reactivate that gouache palette!! 👍 I noticed your daughter has completely lost her spray bottle!! 😂 Do you use tap water or distilled water in your bottle? These might be fun shorts ideas??

If you are using tap water to rehydrate your HIMI gouache, it will likely mold after a while. But if you use distilled or boiled water you will find it doesn't happen. I use the HIMI mild spray that they sell. It has kept my HIMI set in good condition and nicely hydrated for in over 2 1/2 yrs. It evidently has a moisturiser included within their spray, which I can attest does in fact work very well. My favorite holiday is probably sinterklaas. I love the coziness, the happiness of the children, the sinterklaas food: kruidnoten, pepernoten, gevulde speculaas (i don't think the food is translatable, just google it if you are curious). Before sinterklaas children get to place their shoes in front of the fireplace with a carrot for the horse of sinterklaas and the next morning there will be sweet like chocolat letters or pepernoten in their shoe. On sinterklaasevening the whole family comes together and sinterklaas will drop off an burlap bag with presents for everyone and the presents are accompanied with a personal poem for everyone. In our household the presents are usually small, but the cozy vibe isn't 😊

In The Netherlands we celebrate Sinterklaas, who is a Spanish saint, who brings presents and poems on Dec 5th. He sailes a steamboat and on land he rides a white horse. It is a big and cosy family holiday, more important than Christmas for some. Christmas here is just eating, no presents.

I’m a style-hopper too, always wanting to change things up. I’ve watched you for years and either I forgot or didn’t know your favourite holiday, I thought you were gonna say how much you love folk art and moths in particular. This is a lovely painting, the colours are really sweet and cosy. I once used Winsor and Newton drawing ink in a palette with dried acrylic and it lifted some of the dry paint. I hope you get more use out of the palette, there’s a ton of paint waiting for its day in the sun.

I’m a style hopper but also a medium hopper. Some weeks I get into building with cardboard and wood. Some weeks it’s clay. Some weeks it’s pencils, markers and/or paint.

Mira, l love the Folk Art theme. When In Egan painting that was my go to style. The color choices are lovely! I am enjoying the chill vibe this evening after a week of not feeling so great. Also, with all the cooking, etc. was a wonderful time with family, but I am feeling relaxed. Thank you. ❤️😁

Beautiful! You have inspired me to try creating folk art! What you said about doing the entire thing digitally, that gave me a great idea of drawing the sketch digitally to get the mirror effect, and then drawing over the sketch traditionally. Or maybe making a folk art coloring page. Thank you for the inspiration! I love your videos :)

I really enjoy your videos and you are so inspiring 💖. Christmas is my favorite too🥰. I’m retired and recently started back painting with various mediums. I’m ssooo excited that I got my first set of gouache paints today 🥰. Before marriage, family jobs I used acrylics, chalk pastels, charcoal sketches so I’m excited to be able to begin again🥰. I'm very much a style hopper but more than paints (acrylic and watercolor) I sew and have a cricut and do different projects with it using vinyl and card stock. My craft space is always having an identity crisis and it's hard to keep clean and organized because of so many different types of art and craft.

Aww I love seeing you painting. Its so relaxing. My family celebrates christmas holliday but I dont. I had a bone marrow transplant and I have no immune systeme si I'll stay home. I might paint and watch tv. My art is also all over the place for the same reason as you. Thats why I love hanging up here with you.

Your folk art always gives me PA Dutch vibes. You should look up distelfinks if you don't know what they are. They put them on marriage licenses, too. At least they used to in my area.

I have the smaller, Himi version of this and I am genuinely terrified to even open mine. It's been almost 2 years since it was used and the last person who used it was my nephew, who was 7 at the time, so I am not sure it is possible to revive mine 😂 I think he may have killed it! 😂 My favourite holiday is Halloween, I love all the spooky vibes and the fact that for one day, those of us who look "different" aren't seen as freaks or weirdos, but everyone embraces their own inner weirdo and celebrates the fun that can come from expressing themselves in different ways. That's how it should be all the time in my humble opinion. 😊

The symmetry reminds me of my rule when doing my eyeliner and eyebrows, they are sisters, not twins. Although sometimes they end up being second cousins, and thats ok too 😂

I like celebrating Christmas because of the birth of Christ as well. 😊 It’s just usually with my brother and sometimes with my mom and have a meal to together and Visit That’s about all we do 😊 we don’t shop for gifts at all or whatever else. And we keep it pretty simple and low key. And we’re good with that We Still enjoy a cup of coffee or egg nog and a treat and visit and think about the true meaning of the holidays. Which is Christ’s birth. And I’m glad you celebrate it for that reason to 😊 🎉

As an atheist family, we celebrate togetherness during this season. We still decorate and have a tree and gifts, we just don’t have religion tied to our celebrations. ❤

My favorite holiday to celebrate is Christmas, as you also mentioned about loving Christmas because of the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!!!! As many other people have stated, this would be an amazing Christmas card!!!! 🤯🙏🏽🤍❤️ And maybe if possible done on paper to make bookmarks?!
