ABOUT Rewalsar tsechu 2024
The Tsechu (or Chessu) celebration is an age-old Buddhist festival observed on the banks of the Rewalsar lake, in the Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh. The two-day festival is celebrated in March, on the birthday of Guru Padmasambhava, a revered spiritual leader belonging to a region named Oddiyana, who had practised deep meditation next to Rewalsar lake during the 8th century. In fact, for his magnetism and influence, Guru Padmasambhava is also sometimes referred to as "The Second Buddha".
Tsechu is aptly timed in March, as this coincides with the tenth of the initial month of the Buddhist New Year. This is also the period when as legions of Buddhists get the opportunity to temporarily withdraw from their daily regimes and converge for prayers and light festivities. The functions additionally involve ceremonial processions, street events, wrestling matches, and communal meals. Rewalsar s noted ancient monastery also plays a significant role in the festival.
Tsechu indeed is a joyous annual celebration of brotherhood and goodwill in Himachal.
