The real winner that year Miss USA was Miss Tennessee - Beth Hood, she could have placed easily in the Top 5 at Miss Universe 2003 or even challenging Amelia Vega.

Agree. I think she could have fared well in the Miss Universe 2003 pageant. I think she could've easily taken a spot in the Top 5 of Miss Universe.

It's just something about old-school vibes I really love, and this isn't even old-school. Wow, how times have changed. This was incredible. Either way, empowering and encouraging one another to keep striving is more important, and that is what was done here. 👏 👏 👏

Many people consider her to be stunning and would’ve did really well at Miss Universe. I think her personality and Q&A costed her the win. But, facially wise, she is beautiful.

@@juliomarques6741unfortunately it is what it is, we will never know how she would’ve done at Miss Universe 2003. But, I don’t think the results were read backwards, the auditors and MUO would’ve clarified the results😅

I think so too. Miss Tennessee was the one to beat that year. I don't understand the results. Watching the whole segment of the competition, these are my Top 5: * Tennessee * Indiana * Hawaii * Massachusetts * Michigan/New Mexico

Beth Hood is a legend. One of the most beautiful women to ever step foot on the Miss USA stage. She should've won that day. Michigan was also quite pretty, so was Texas. The problem with Texas was that she was way too short and she would've been eaten alive by that strong Miss Universe 2003 batch.

Looking back now, I think the top 5 was actually quite beautiful. It’s just that Miss USA contestants don’t really have proper training for Miss Universe and they are pretty much on their own until Crystle Stewart took over in 2021! I think Alabama and TN were more beautiful than MA and may have cracked top 10 if they competed in Panama. However, the 2003 Miss Universe batch was quite strong and I don’t see any of them winning Amelia Vega that year. Maybe top 5 placement but hard to win Amelia.

Loved the production and presentation of the pageant in 2003. It was the start of the NBC era for MUO.

Let me tell you! This production is EVERYTHING! Wow! I want to be as cool as Billy Bush 🫠 Any of that top 5 could’ve been an amazing Miss USA, the top 10 girls were iconic. From semifinals to finals this was a good show. OMG! Daisy here was UNBELIEVABLE! Susie Castillo, so stunning 🤍

This was the first Miss USA I have ever watched. I remember rooting for MI that night. I was also rooting for IN and HI. My aunts got MA right. I remember everyone at home being so enthralled with Susie. The contestant I won't forget the most though was WI. I remember I was like WHAAAT?! (people this was 2003!) But she would have slayed if she competed now

WI has an exotic look but the eyes are a little too smart. If she had bigger eyes like Kelly Hu of Hawaii 1993, I think she would do well today.

I get a Miss Congeniality (the movie) vibe during the river part of the opening. I guess because the pageant in that movie also took place in San Antonio. I think San Antonio could potentially be a good Miss Universe host one day.

since 2000, the selection of ms USA has been weird and the taste of judges were strange. instead of true winner, they often select someone whom i knew she could not stand out in ms Universe, like Susie, Sarah Rose, and some others.

I met the winner of this pageant, Susie Castillo, at TRL when she was a host on there soon after she gave up her crown. She wasn’t very nice at all, only when the cameras came on did she turn it on. Confirmed to me that Alabama or Tennessee should have won this pageant.

and please, they should bring the swimsuit and evening gown segment without any annoying commentators talking... we should just focus on the contestants during the show.. after all, we as audiences, we can see everything by ourselves, there is no need for the commentators to say anything further.. we are not blind!
