Having spent two nights in Slovakia, it is it time to hit the road again and reach the Romanian border. This is what I've been waiting and aiming for - Romania is my main destination for this trip!
I bought a 30-day vignette at the border (cost only 7€) and I plan to spend the whole month here. I'm feeling a little shy about this new country, which feels distinctly different from my own culture. It will be my home for the time being. Luckily wild camping is legal here, so I can relax in that regard!
In this episode I travel around northwestern Romania, seeing churches, sneak peaks of mountains and the city of Cluj-Napoca, the second most populous city in Romania. The roads expose me to great wealth, poverty and everything in between.
I find myself feeling unfamiliar being and sleeping inside buildings [there's actually a mistake in the diary entry in the video, this is the SECOND time sleeping inside a building since leaving Finland]. It feels... box-y, like my being is used to not being contained by walls. Living inside a car means the space is tiny, but most of the time my doors are wide open and my living space is just as much outdoors as it is indoors. I feel wild, I feel uncontained, I feel free. And this is just the beginning.
