It wasn't the bump that put Brereton down. Yeates followed it up with a knee to the ribs, which the cameras somehow missed. You can see it just before they cut away at 0:54

@@Rockhopper1163 I believe today's style of play has contributed to the rise in concussion cases. The result of flooding has put more players on the ball increasing the risk of contact. When it was a position game you didn't have so many players fighting over the ball.
@shannonpincombe8485
@shannonpincombe8485 Ай бұрын
It's because the AFL wanted more of a basketball style game with the ball going from end to end more quickly. Forwards get dragged up the ground and then need to sprint back the forward line. Back in these days forwards stayed forward mostly and they were more able to settle themselves for shots on goal. Jason Dunstall didn't go chasing kicks on the wing or half back.

What is the philosophical definition of "sport"? Should it include all that crazy physical thuggery (e.g. stray elbows in eye sockets), because it is a legitimate part of the psychological component of sport? It is! Or, does "sport" revolve around technical talent and prowess? Gotta admit...Rugby Union is a far superior spectacle, product, and even contest after years of cleaning it up via professionalism.
