The Chargers are failing Herbert man. I don't know how Staley kept his job after blowing that Raiders game 2 years ago and ultimately giving the Raiders their playoff spot. That was his job right there. And if not, it should've been after the 27 point blown lead vs Jacksonville in the Wild Card. He's a bottom 5 coach covered up by a top 10 QB.

The throwaway in that situation shows a couple of things: Goff had confidence in his offense, and that he doesn't let his ego get in the way of making the right decision. A lot of QBs would have tried to force a throw there to make up for the 3 interceptions and be the hero. But no, Goff knew the situation, trusted his team, and cut his losses on the play. It stopped the clock and allowed the team to reset. I've seen him do it a couple of times this season. So, yeah, it was an awesome throwaway. No one is praising the play itself, but the situational awareness set up the rest of the drive.

@@misters4022 can’t mess up a team any worse than calling a timeout when the raiders wanna take us both to the playoffs via QB kneel Tie. Staley causes them to gain the courage to kick a field goal ending our playoff chances 2 years ago. Or not knowing how to utilize Austin Ekeler in a jaguars playoff game that featured Asante Samuel Jr getting 3 interceptions and the defense adding a fourth with a 27 point lead at halftime and only 6 rushing attempts in the second half. Asante Jr would’ve been a household name by now but that game caused his performance to get lost in the wash of Staleys idiotic play calling and terrible clock management skills. At least Rex coached the way this team NEEDS to be. Strong defense with an excellent rushing attack. Add in Justin Herbert instead of a Mark Sanchez and look at the magic happen.

It wasn’t just “The Bears”, it was the worst coaching staff ever assembled in any sport! I don’t think ppl understand how just the fact that they even had a lead in this game is a ridiculously unbelievable achievement. Just think about how bad Nathaniel Hackett was last year in Denver and how bad he’s been this year with the jets. Well The Bears GM decided to handover the entire offense and the young future franchise qb to the coach that was directly under Nathaniel Hackett. And even after the whole world witnessed just how horrible of a coach Hackett was not even making a full year in Denver, The Bears still has his understudy running the offense and calling plays. And to make it even worse, you have silly casual Bears fans and the horribly incompetent lost Chicago sports media blaming the quarterback as if he designed the offense and calls his own plays. It’s the most ridiculously insane sports moment I’ve ever witnessed. It’s like a nightmare that you can’t wake up from.

Never forget Anthony Lynn was let go despite a four-game winning streak and leading the Chargers through the transition to LA Because they didn't think he was capable of coaching the Chargers to the next level... with Justin Herbert Brandon Staley has proven he is incapable of coaching this team to the next level... because he has done nothing but hold them back at best and sabotage them at worst... honestly speaking whatever success he has had with the Chargers was inherited via an incoming 20 & 21 draft! His coaching decision cost them the playoffs in 2021 and then they blew a 27-0 lead last year! The reason this guy still has a job is because Dean Spanos has no real fan base for his team & he is only a tenant at sofi Stadium so there's really no one to answer to! Anthony Lynn should be brought back immediately

Anthony Lynn was fired because he had terrible clock management skills and couldn't make 2nd half adjustments, even when the Chargers were leading. The same guy who hired Lynn and Staley is the one who needs to be fired.

Lol pretty sure he meant in the context of Lions winning a game where in past years they lose every time

It’s because the bears played great. And he had a horrible game and came back with four minutes left. And fields was dynamic. So context is everything buddy

You can tell that he's lost the locker room and that he knows he's done. That press conference was basically his way of yelling out the door. He effectively trashed the players and not himself the whole press conference (briefly stated he takes responsibility at one point). You just don't do that as a coach. It's your job as a coach to have the team ready and when they're not week after week you have to own that. It's also your job as a coach to answer questions in press conferences, especially when things are abysmal weekend and week out defensively and you are supposedly a "defensive genius".

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Everyone bashes Herbert. But if you watch them consistently, you’ll see the absolute trash defense, no run game, and horrible coaching. It’s so frustrating being a chargers fan

We must not be watching the same game the 1st pic Goff had was contact with the defender. 2nd pick was tipped the last pic was on Goff

Imo it’s crazy how Rex Ryan is commentating while Staley has a head coaching job. Rex would be a much better coached and would instill a much better culture for the chargers

I don't know anything about Staley because I don't follow the AFC closely, but Rex Ryan was 61-66 as a head coach, and his teams made the playoffs twice in eight years. He is the last guy who should be pontificating about coaching incompetence.

Watching that dropped pass several times makes me wonder, are the Chargers players trying to get Staley fired? Reminds me of the Barry Switzer Cowboys who often looked the same.

Rex Ryan coached the Jets to 2 AFC Championship Games with Mark Sanchez as his QB. Reread that phrase again and again and again just to let that sink in compared it to Brandon Staley with Justin Herbert as his QB. Staley hasn’t even won a playoff game.

Rex Ryan never had a top 15 QB, let alone a top 7-8 QB like Herbert. Mark Sanchez, a young Geno Smith, Tyrod Taylor were his QBs.
