Massive explosions hit a military airfield in Russian-occupied Crimea. Ukraine has stopped short of officially claiming responsibility, and speculation over what triggered the conflagration continues. Many locals doubt Russia's claim that the blasts were an accident.

“Russian tourists leave crimea after the explosions” The fact there are people in this world so low and respectless to go on vacation in crimea now… Not even to begin about the suffering of the Ukrainian people. But realize for a second there are russian sons dying and have died in the very land where they drink cocktails and sunbathe on the beach. To think that a family is just walking feet in the sand enjoying their freedom. And maybe just 50 km ahead, a guy is dying while calling for his mother, who lives in the same city, block maybe even street, as that family celebrating vacation. Total lack of respect for human life in any way. I would call them animals but even animals have more common sense than these scoundrels. Shame.

To be fair, there are videos everywhere of the explosions and not once do you see a missile trail that should be visible if it was the HIMARS. Ukraine has slaughtered hundred of thousands ,raped ,killed , destroyed all for their pure entertainment. I remember seeing an ancient video from a friend that showed back in 2014 ukrainians laughing while beating up a civilian who stood for Russia and was against the slaughters. I haven't yet seen any post-blast satellite photos of the airfield, but considering the size of the detonations, I'd be astonished if only nine planes were destroyed. It's clear from the pre-explosion satellite picture that quite a few of the planes were parked in blast-deflecting revetment bays, and we don't know where exactly the epicentres of the blast were, but very powerful blast waves must have swept across the whole airfield. Maybe the Russians are outright lying in their normal way, but I wouldn't be shocked if they're counting as merely "damaged" planes that haven't actually been reduced to piles of shredded and melted metal, even though they were so stressed by the explosions that no sane pilot would ever try to fly them.

"How did you go bankrupt?" "In two ways. First slowly then rapidly". Russia is loosing more and more high value strategic weapons and munitions depots by the day. If Ukraine keeps winning at the strategic important points, while they keep avoiding significant losses of their own.... it can only go one way in the end. The Ukrainians don't even need to cause a lot of Russian casualties. They just need to reduce them to a bunch of hungry and tired soldiers with no functional vehicles or heavy weapons... The totally ironic thing about this is that Russia was losing demographically since the start of this war. It won't have enough men left to father replacement births in its population in the near future and significant numbers of Russian women have fled to less repressive countries. Either way, Russian bloodlines and families will be diminished, if not cease to exist altogether as a result of this. There will be a lot of Russian women marrying Europeans, Americans, and Ukrainians as a consequence simply because there will be so few eligible Russian men available when Ukraine prevails. Economically, this has become a total disaster for Russia as well. Capital flight and the money that Russia had in foreign banks (now frozen assets), as well as the reduced level of trade have all had an impact on individual Russians and Russia-based companies. Estimates indicate that Russia had in excess of $600 Billion saved as a rainy-day fund, but has spent over $100 Billion and has had over $300 Billion frozen. With the increased costs of funding its military and offsetting losses due to sanctions, reports support the idea that Russia will undergo a depression or complete financial collapse within 18 months (or sooner).
@cathoderay305
@cathoderay305 Жыл бұрын
@@SunriseLAW No. Demographically (replacement births), Russia was spiraling downward prior to the last decade when there was a spike in births. Recently, however, they are losing any number of people to migration outside the country and to combat. With substantial numbers of their intellectuals and wealthy citizens leaving and the loss of men who might've fathered children they will face the same problem that many nations are facing - more old people and fewer young people. The Chinese have a similar problem, because their one-birth policy has reduced the replacement population necessary to secure and maintain growth (and the little prince syndrome, legal requirements to support your parents after their retirement, desire to play the field in preference to getting married and raising a child, etc.). Basically, from a demographics standpoint Russia had to wage its war now before it had insufficient numbers of working adults to do so. In ten years, there would have been fewer young men available to both work and fight.

I spent six years in the US Army as an Army Ammunition Specialist (MOS 89B) - responsible for the management of ammunition and explosives. The US Army has very very VERY concise and detailed methods for arranging munitions storage .. how far from a road, how far from other bunkers etc etc. etc. This is in part to try and limit any detonation of a bunker to that area. What munitions are stored in a bunker depends on how far from the bunker to say a road. I would LOVE to see some of our experienced munitions guys look at satellite images of the Air Base and do an after-action report.

A KZfaq commenter on one of the tourist videos pointed out that you could hear two quite sharp explosions in rapid succession shortly before the two major detonations went off with what seemed to be the same delay between them. I know virtually nothing about this stuff, but it it didn't look to me like an ammunition depot at one end of the airfield went boom and this eventually set off another stockpile of ammunition on the other side of the base. What I saw in the video was two fireballs blooming on the ground in rapid succession and then rising to form the mushroom clouds almost together.

I'm a former artilleryman myself. Our supply troops would ever only carry enough to refill one M109 in one truck, despite the truck being large enough to carry more. We were six cannons per battery, and they would approach us via different routes, and only restock two cannons in the same time window. They told us they spent much more time moving ammo around from lager to ever smaller caches then they did actually moving stuff to the barrels. It's as if someone, somewhere, had the thought that tons and tons of explosives, without a 30 feet concrete roof and 90 feet of dirt over it, is a highly sought after target that someone would go a really long way out of their convenience to get at.... And it's like the Russians NEVER heard of this concept...

If you are in the US military like I was for 12 years first off you would know that anything Russia says is complete nonsense so between tank turrets that are flying halfway to the Moon, nuclear plants that shell themselves, boomerang Kaliber cruise missiles, ships sinking themselves, and ammo dumps blowing up out of thin air one would eventually see they're putting quite a bit of work into denying the truth 😂. What I saw yesterday looked like a classic predator drone strike they have been supposed to get some of them but have been keeping it on the down low the damage pattern spread out like it is looks like a multiple hellfire missile strike.

I also read that description of a series of a dozen or so smaller explosions in quick succession and then the two huge booms. That seemed possibly significant to me because the pre-explosion satellite photo of the base showed around a dozen fighter-type jets parked in blast-deflecting revetment bays. The last I heard, Ukraine is still being coy and trolling the Russians about the incident, but there have apparently been unofficial hints that special forces were involved. If that's true and the guys more or less had the run of the base due to crap Russian security, I can imagine how they might have planted timed explosives on those protected aircraft as well as charges that were intended to set off the ammunition dumps. Even if there was no attempt to sabotage individual aircraft, given the size of the two huge explosions, I find it very difficult to believe that only nine aircraft were destroyed as the Russians are now claiming.
