I had a Ram 1500 that did the same thing and what it ended up being was the switch on the brake pedal that allowed the truck to start. It would screw up every now and then making it a crap shoot every time I started the truck.

I've been following your channel since you got the Silverado ZR2 and I finally ordered one couple months ago, unfortunately it hasn't arrived yet but I'm wondering if the issues you are facing with it have to do with that time you jumped the truck that maybe something got a little loose or disconnected and is sending a false signal every now and then sometimes. I don't know, I've been a little concerned about those issues now that I'm waiting for mine, so I hope they can get it fixed for you man. And since you already had the Colorado I would go for the Canyon now.

Bobby have your dealership look at the security system. Loose connection in the PassKey system might be giving you that intermittent dead ignition.

That switchbacks you pointed are part of Black Bear pass. I think the Canyon AT4X is the one to get.

My 2019 with a 5.3 hasn’t had a single problem. My buddy’s 2022 f150 ecoboost wouldn’t start last evening. We were 20 miles from the nearest main road and it we had just finished a 5 mile hike back in the dark to the truck. Magically started 10 minutes later but definitely not a good feeling especially with a basically brand new truck

I know this might sound stupid, but sometimes there a reset that needs to happen to get them started. Disconnect the battery for an hour or two. Then just plug it back up. I know it doesn’t work for every vehicle, but it worked for me on a precious vehicle.

So, I don't know what you do to solve it, or if it solves itself. Newer "vehicles" (I won't make the brand, cause I don't want to lose my job) build up a lot of electrical resistance, due to static electricity. If you hook the battery connections (NOT HOOKED UP TO THE BATTERY) together with a wire for 15mins, it discharges the extra static electricity, and brings resistances back to normal levels, and everything works again. 🤷‍♂️ try it. See if it works. Shout me out if it did. Free fix

When it acts up,have you ever tried to contact onstar to see if the can scan it? they can scan if you can connect with them.

Beautiful ZR2 truck but it’s Lemon, GM just bought back my 2020 Silverado 1500 RST kept shutting down on me in the middle of traffic and plus it was in the shop 92 plus times from the first day I bought it, unfortunately might have to lawyer up for this one it’s a shame how wonderful it looks and the color alone is outstanding but situations like this I would try to get out of, you can only imagine how much worst can it get beyond this, sorry man

Imogene is a great trail! Was up there labor day weekend. Did Yankee Boy Basin as well.

Addressing the no start issue, have you placed the key fob is the designated spot for when the key fob is dead? Then try to start it. I’m a Chevy fan tried and true but that is incredibly frustrating. Hopefully it gets corrected sooner rather than later.

Great video Bobby. Hopefully you can get things figured out with the truck. I love the truck. as far as AT4X or Colorado ZR2, I am a die hard Chevy guy, so ZR2 all the way. Besides, I think the ZR2 looks better than the AT4X.

Might want to check with TFL Truck on the 1st ZR2 on Imogene, they are based in CO. You might have it though since they didn't keep theirs long.

I like the canyon because it offers the higher out put 2.7 in all trims as standard.

I've done Imogene and tons of Colorado trails alot higher and harder in more remote areas. Them people were trash and it happens. When I'm up high on trails I don't turn off the truck. It stays running. I don't turn it off till I'm on pavement.

It has to be the ECM. Try taking off your aftermarket exhaust its probably getting some back draft it doesn't like. After it sits and clears out it starts.

Sucks to see the troubles but I agree she’s beautiful. Good luck on whatever it is. And hopefully easy fix.

ZR2 is a beast

Just out of curiosity, have you checked the battery cables? I know it sounds simple but I've got a Silverado ZR2 and the negative battery cable was actually loose enough I could spin it around the post by hand. Bad grounds can cause all kinds of electrical problems, especially like the ones you're having.

The more I see the bad stuff with the Chevy ZR2, the more I want to get a Ford Raptor. Yes they have some issues, but nothing like you are experiencing. I hope you can get it worked out, or get a ZR2 Colorado or Canyon AT4X. I will watch the videos if you get a Gen 3 Colorado/Canyon just to see how that turbo 4 holds up.

I've done Imogene Pass numerous times in our Jeep's. We also did it once in our 2014 Silverado Z71 (stock). One of our favorite trails. Did you go all the way to Ouray or just back to Telluride? Ouray side is great too. Pizza at Brown Dog in Telluride is so good.

You must have been there the same day as I was because I saw that GMC 2500 at the top.

My bronco was worse than that. It turned off while driving and would do the same thing with the start. Ford just didn't want to help. Time to go to something like a GX460.

I doubt it’s the case, but is the trucks battery properly connected and still in good shape, more than likely it’s still a mechanical issue but electronics can do some super weird things, but anyways Colorado is so beautiful

I love Chevy I got a 2013 Silverado four-wheel drive Z71 never had no problems although I didn't buy it new in the last owner messed up the transmission in it but once I had that fixed I ain't had no problems out of mine I hate that you do though I'm sorry that you're having problems I hope you get it fixed

As a second vehicle you should get an explorer ST and do the minimal mods that it takes to make it as fast as Mikes Urus.

Great video as always Bobby! Sucks that the ZR2 died on the trail but I’m glad it started up again and you were able to get it off the trail. When it comes to the canyon or the Colorado, I think the canyon is the way to go. I originally was thinking Colorado but I think it would be cool with the canyon to switch it up!

I know I'm going to get a lot of crap for this but I think paying 80,000 for truck is absurd. Especially for going off roading . I have an 07 Chevy classic. Engine and drivetrain is on point. I didn't spend not even a 1/4 of these newer trucks and my old ass truck is doing the same crap as these new trucks.

Could be an ECM too engine control module it would control everything engine transmission power not want to start everything and it throws a certain code I don't remember what the code is though look into that though

Sounds like the truck could be having a computer issue. They need to reflash all the computers and see if it helps.

I have a 2022 Silverado and it does weird crap,like that every few weeks. It’s very glitchy and I use my in the city only. The dealership said they can’t do anything unless they can recreate the problems. DM me if you want to talk more about the issues. Good luck

You want a decent offroad unit buy a 06-07 silverado 15 or 2500 and straight axle swap it along with many other parts and you will have one bad fullsize rig the 08-13 are a good choice also

Sorry your dealing with BS with your truck...I was a huge GM fan then switched cause GM just does not care and I'm not backing a company that does not care about there buyers...Have they changed the ECM? My F150 had a similar issue and that was fixed with an ECU change...
