This is one very nice, 2 stroke RG, it's such a shame that the big 4 have decided with the help of the "greenies" to kill off the almighty 2 stroke. Can you imagine what kind of power they'd have if they were allowed to continue to develop as the 4 stroke has? The 4 strokers think their favored type of engine is safe, when the "greenies" decide to go after the 4 stroke, they will not succeed any better than we 2 stroke fans have. We still need to fight for the 2 stroke, support co's like ours!

@Revanche2strokes I'm French and i live in southern California.Why there are no races like that in the US. At least 4 stroke if they don't like 2 stroke. I use to go to these mountain races, no more than 2 miles of normal roads,it is a very nice show to watch. I even miss the smell of the 2 stroke....

This isn't a great rider, this is a SUPER rider!!

I had an original 85 RG 500, didn't touch the engine in any way. I had an original TR 500 race engine I put in a modified T 350 frame and kept the ancient, no muffler chambers for it. An NS400R I stage 4 ported, had pistons, ignition, carbs, lightweight race gear from among others a TZ 350. That was a crazy stroker! Ran rings around most RG500s, RD500s in my town. THe RG I kept pristine, as a collector's piece:)

My old 77 rm 250 was noisy(loved the sound during a hill climb),Never had a problem in three seasons of riding(mostly Hollister Hills Ca).

Maico makes 700 stroker offroads now. Approx 90HP, 90KG. They started making them a year or two ago and still make them. Compare that with the old 500 motocrossers,eh?: )

@gauloiscalifornien Millions of us miss the 2 stroke, and many not only miss it, but they don't like being told what they can and cannot ride. Over in Europe, they seem to "understand" the wants of the people better than here. Also, the controlling motorcycle governing body ( AMA ) is being controlled by those other than the people. So, great competitions and bikes like this, vary rarely get a chance to shine. Someone here, will figure this out and they will gain a million fans. Great points!

They were noisy, smelly, clogged up with ash, blew spark plugs, vibrated, had powerbands like broken nails, no power below 7000, explosion at 9000, up on wheelies, pistons/rings needed replacing often, oil seals, carbs needed cleaning if on petroil mix,same with exhausts. But they were fun when they worked! Screeeeaam! Wheelie,wheelie,wheelie! And so lightweight you outran all bigger bikes on twisty roads:)

I'm a 2 stroke fan too but why would sports bike manufacturers want to develop 2 stroke race engines, when 4 strokes have been much more popular in that segment for so long? The usual 1000cc SS bike rider wouldn't wanna switch back to 2T because his machine has a much more predictable power band.

YES THEY ARE! but MY time on this planet is limited, just like the ability of 4t riders.lol pound for pound a 2 stroke WILL out power a four stroke up to 500cc. im talking v4's not single cylinders. from there on it reverses, above 500cc 2stroke is uneconomical and under powered. 2 STROKE ALL THE WAY. ROSSI WOULD GET A SHAFTING IF THEY BROUGHT BACK 2 SMOKES!
