In the books, he was murdered by his lover, the one he escaped with on the show. On the previous episode, when Seasmoke was restless, it implies that something’s wrong with Laenor. Because the bond between dragons and humans are deep, Seasmoke may have felt that Laenor have died in Essos. He was probably murdered by his lover, this time in Essos (he was murdered in Westeros by his lover) this kind of happening explains Seasmoke getting restless and besides, Seasmoke will have a new rider soon. Seasmoke cannot be claimed unless Laenor dies, so the showrunner and/or the writers probably thought it best not to be showcase Laenor’s death on screen.

Rip the queen who should have been, definitely wiser and a stronger leader than viserys. Id say the wisest of the Targaryens of that time period. If only she were queen the land would have stayed united. Regardless, this is a huge loss for the Blacks. Rhaenys was Rhaenyras wisest councilor and most trusted. Guaranteed without her to temper rhaenyras flame things will burn. Truly the noblest of Targaryens. A true dragon knight, probably the only one of the time. She had such a impeccable bond with meleys

I'd like to think that somewhere deep down, Rhaenys knew in her gut that Laenor wasn't dead. Or at least that Rhaenyra didn't have him killed. She became so fiercely loyal to her, she stopped being disgusted by the Strong bastards and embraced them the way Corlys and Laenor had. It was almost like she had taken Laenor and Daemon's place and fought for their family (as well as dying for them) the way an equal partner would.

watching all your edits of septic character and I’m like the way you would eat Colin because there’s so many versions of him you could make! just one with how people see and talk about him or to him alone would destroy me! She and Meleys went as only badasses could go - like legends. Justice for the Queen that should've been! Justice for the Red Queen, Meleys! Phenomenal battle with Sunfyre and Vhagar.
