A boy this young, playing so well. Single notes, octaves, chording, dynamics. It is a beautiful arrangement of Gershwin's piece, and he plays it so beautifully. Okay, he stumbles once - and recovers quickly to continue through to the end. I hope I hear more from this young lad, as he grows as an artist. In fact, it has been almost 9 years since the post...Where is Leung Pak now?

+ William Lee. They are both excellent. However their circumstances are very different. the excellent, amateur I imagine, Harmonica player has, in all likelihood, been learning and perfecting his performance for a number of - probably many - months, if not a year or more, so has learnt it without a great effort, probably effortlessly; the presumably professional ( judging by his performance of a taxing piece of accompaniment - without a page-turner as well, I note,) pianist has probably had sight of this music for a matter of a day or days, probably a week at most, and possibly only a matter of hours depending on how many other contestants he has had to accompany. Sight reading is his stock-in-trade of course, but they may have only had time for a few run - throughs - maybe even only a couple, or even one - of the music together. This I gather from the slight hesitancy at a few key junctions, though I think they are very sensitive to one another. Others have commented on the balance between the players; there is nothing magical about that - it is the job of the accompanist to be sensitive to the instrumentalist(s)/ vocalist(s) they are accompanying and only a poor one ( which this one isn't) would drown or overbalance the soloist/ ensemble.

That he is sooo young and can play such an extremely difficult piece on the chromatic. wow. He makes 2 flubs in the performance and carries on, so mature. If you play harmonica, you know that he is bending notes on a chromatic, which can make the harmonica freeze up on ya if you go just a little to hard on it, he's tonguing for harmonies, and the runs in Rhapsody are monsters. Wow. Can't wait to see how he grows as an artist.

249 thumbs down?? Must be very astute and accomplished musicians to render such a verdict. We can all hardly wait for their insights, their musical sensibilities, their depth and appreciation of real music to the point where such verdicts are made. Please enlighten us with what does not please you in this performance. Please give us all a detailed understanding as mere mortals like us can never ascribe to such performance heights. In truth, this young lad most likely puts them all to shame and beyond the simple thumbs-down, they have nothing to say whatsoever. Thankfully.

@@mysty1353 Thanks for that - I had never heard of the link beetween Larry Adler and George Gershwin. I just looked it up, and there was some sort of link between them - but I'm not sure that it's what you believe it to be. Gershwin wrote the orchestral composition Rhapsody in Blue in 1924 (at the age of 26). Larry Adler was born February 10, 1914, so he would have been 10 years old when Gershwin was writing RiB. I see that Adler became a great exponent of the piece, and may have worked with Gershwin in writing a harmonica arrangement of it - though I can't find any evidence of even that. Gershwin lived 12 years after writing it. There's a nostalgic KZfaq here of Larry Adler playing duet with George Gershwin - but it's nostalgic because Gershwin isn't there. It's a player piano - supposedly using a roll played by Gershwin - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/sJ2gdsh7y6qvZqM.html Incidentally, if I may also enter the fray - I also think of a "song" as something that is sung, with words. It is defined on ther Internet as "a short musical composition of words and music." Rhapsody in Blue has no words. I think the error may come from MP3 players, which refer to each track as a "song" because they are designed for playing songs - but mine is used almost exclusively for playing audiobooks - and it refers to each chapter as a "song".

Excellente interprétation;félicitations à ces deux virtuoses....George Gershwin est, j'en suis sûr, dans un état hypnotique céleste ... Bravo !

Dude, This interpretation is just unbelivable. I am a musician, pianist, and I didn't even know that this song could be played in harmonica!! And you play it very clean and beautiful, kid. Congratulations!!

I liked this... As good as it gets with a Harmonica, and he's only a young lad. Imagine what he can achieve through his lifetime !

Why is this young man's talent overlooked by his race/ethnicity? Music surpasses creed, ethnicity, class, etc.
