The 64-year-old diesel locomotive Gm 4/4 number 241 was parked at the RhB on Friday, July 14, 2023. The recording of this film ended in Untervaz a week before the shutdown. The locomotive maneuvers diligently back and forth - the trip to the gravel quarry is a highlight. The locomotive's life is documented in the film and there is a lot of information about the locomotive. To the delight of all spectators, the Ge 4/4 I locomotive number 605 arrived in Untervaz that day to haul the Valser trains. Whether filmed from a distance or in close-up, locomotive 241 can be seen again from all perspectives. The current information is that the locomotive should go to the Brohltal railway. But as far as we know, this is not yet finalized (as of July 30, 2023).

Danke für das positive Feedback. Das motiviert mich. Ja, Vorbereitung, Filmen und dann noch Schneiden und vertonen ist schon viel Arbeit. Aber es cool, was man heute Zuhause in so einer hochwertigen Filmqualität alles machen kann, dafür hätte man vor 40 Jahren ein ganzes Fernsehteam benötigt.

Hi Kurt! Really enjoyed this look at 241 and the nice details intercut with your video. I'm detailing a few of my G scale tractors and your details of hoses and couplings are greatly appreciated. Also, very nice details of the new blue containers and flat car that carries them. As always, another wonderful look at the RhB done in a very professional video. Thanks for this historic look at 241. =D= Oh, enjoyed the vocal descriptions and used the CC translation to English to more fully grasp the meanings. Can't wait to see what you deliver next!

Hello Don, thank you for the feedback. In the past I didn't use language in the videos because I thought it would be better for viewers who don't speak German. Then I realized that KZfaq has a function with subtitles including translation. Even if not everything is translated 100% accurate, I think the explanations are understood and everything is much more interesting. My videos will now always be with voice. Greetings Kurt

I only recently discovered that also as I enjoy Spaßbahn Dekoder videos of G scale RhB and RhB outings and wrote him to do CC in English. Then playing around with icons on video screen discovered the German to English and CC! Some funny translations though! @@kurtwolfert

I have now found a tool in KZfaq that allows me to improve the German texts - I think this means that KZfaq can now translate into other languages much better, so that the subtitles are also much better than before.

Gute deutsche Wertarbeit. Die Wahrheit ist aber: 1.000 mm Dieselloks sind sehr beliebt in der Schweiz, weil für Bauarbeiten die Regelfahrzeuge nicht benutzt werden können, denn die sind meist Elektroloks. Das kommt daher, dass Eisenbahnen in der Schweiz sehr früh elektrifiziert waren.

Wow Kurt, that’s more than just a collection of shots. It’s a full documentary. That must have taken some preparation as well I guess. There were moments I suspect you were working with 3 different camera’s. Or are you really doing all of this with one static and one drone? Anyway, impressive. Not only the pictures and film but the gathered intel also.

Thanks for the positive feedback. Yes, the preparation takes longer than the filming. The position of the sun is the most important. But that changes throughout the day. A plan, when will which freight train arrive. And then the positions of the cameras. At the end of the day you're sweating through. But it is also an experience and a memory. Two cameras outside, a drone and an action cam in the locomotive. One man.

War das nicht die ex DB V52?

Nein, die Maschine bei der RhB ist eine MaK. Im Film sieht man das alte Typenschild von MaK. Die V51/V52 sind ähnliche Loks, aber nicht bei MaK gebaut sondern in Lizenz von Gmeinder & Co. , weil man damals in Baden-Württemberg den heimischen Lokbau unterstützen wollte.
