Was playing theses yesterday, they’re weird as hell to get used to. The bombers are pretty hard to aim due to the height and the rockers only seem to do good damage if you get a solid broadside... also the attack run range is super short. It is hilarious chasing DDs down with Torps though.

Yeah takes a little bit to get used to the new AP bombers since the reticule is in a different spot.

Gr CVs are very effective at low tier, however, I tested the T8 and the fragility of planes associated to the fact that you can see flak when aiming with bombers tend to make Gr plane even less effective than graf planes

Wordddd. I have to collect another 3,000 base xp and then I unlock this. I’m excited.

I decided to buy two rounds of 5 boxes and in the 2nd round the Rhein was the one I was able to get. I've only had enough time to play a single round but that was some of the most fun I've ever had playing carriers! I basically had a Kuma down to life support after hitting him with AP rocket citadels a few times and then my secondaries finished him off with a single shell. Then I finished off a battleship with some AP bomb drops, which was extra cool because I hadn't gotten a chance to start the Japanese CV line and give AP bombs a try yet. If this one is anything to go by, this CV line is going to be a lot of fun and I might have to get the other two in early access as well!

Actually now seeing the armament of the planes it makes sense why the CVs are getting better than usual Secs... Also I feel like the German Cvs are gonna be well liked by DD captains? Because they arent overly shitting on them and the only real threat is the spotting itself and maybe some few topr hits. but they dont do much damage which I think is good. I think the German CVs are gonna be the least hated by DDs, prob more hated for that by CAs and BBs as a trade off but atleast the DDs getting some breathing room now.

I think Weser will be a secondary monster for its tier because it has 10 secondary guns. If these guns are as accurate as Graf Zeppelins they will do big damage. They pen 26 mm which is enough for most BBs.

I still perfer the US DBs to be honest. Your outright damage is probably equal on impact, but then fire chance improves it drastically. What actually makes these so good in everyones opinion? I personally can't see it..

I'm not sure why they felt the need to change the aiming mechanics for these ships. Both rockets and dive bombers kind of work backwards compared with every other ship line (and the GZ). The AP rockets have to hit solid broadside and aren't good for hitting DDs as even with a solid broadside you will get overpens. I can't figure out how to drop the bombs as it seems like you need to fly through flak for a half hour before you can drop, and the reticle walks FORWARD where every other drop reticle walks "backwards", meaning that aiming too far in front of a ship is really problematic. At tier 8 at least your bombers get a heal, but they still really can't hit anything. And the damage seems really, really low .. . it's neat that you get a Citadel ribbon and they're good ships to farm them with, but if you're really not doing that much damage? I'll take regular rockets that do more damage but don't give me a Citadel ribbon.

First game with the Rhein my team was losing so I drove my cv up close and burn up a bb doing that, get a witherer out of the secondaries.

I think that you can farm the bow and sturn of bbs with the rockets but only shatters when hit the armor belt

Noticing with the AP rockets, you're starting attack runs a bit earlier? Is it like with the bombers where the angle of the attack depends on how early/late you take the shot?

Also got the Rein the AP bombers are fun to play but I can't imagine the same gameplay in higher tiers. Your planes might melt while you circling and waiting for the aiming animation. The torps feel meh, same speed as the IJN but less dmg.

to be fair i think AP rockets are better for the game than HE rockets because you can defend against them by angling you ship and they won't do a 5-10k strike directly, of course citadels are horrible for cruisers but honestly just seeing the richtoffen oneshot some smolensk is fucking beautiful oh and also they don't put 200 fires everywhere like enterprise rockets

@Toptier Have you played non-bot games with the Graf Zeppelin after the aiming speed buff? Is she worth buying now?

I just got Rhein. Feels weird compared to Hosho, its torps are weaker in dmg and the bombers are a new thing to learn. Haven't had a good chance to test the Rockets yet, but it seems it must be a perfect angle for cits

lots of citadels, but final damage is not that high for a toptier player (huehuehuehue). It's a great tool to farm citadel ribbons, but the CV in itself looks like in the middle between langley and hosho - with the quirk that dds take less direct damages and cruisers take more. From a BB/cruiser point of view, I'd say you are encouraged to go forward, as hiding behind a rock for the whole game will not do you any good (little damage each time, but they stack, and they are not healable). ... there is still the problem of double cv games at tier 4, but it's a general problem

It looks like the very thing that the vast majority of people that play the game didn't want and of course it's better than the other CV's that's what power creep is all about.

What is the best CV to begin?

So the AP bomber with the dive as a "specialty" would have been enough for the German CV's. But no WG wants to bring these bad AP missiles into play ... and then this bullshit that you should go with torpedoes for DD ... in the low tier area that may still be possible, but on Tier 10 all of them give way Torps out as well as loose the AP missiles. The torps on tier 10 should at least have the old GZ release (German cross) so that you might have a chance of hitting a DD with the torps. In addition, the secondary range is missing to defend against DDs that are too close if you have no other effective weapon against them!

I know the the rockets are awful against DDs but it fundamentally hurts my soul to see torp bombers going after DDs. It just seems so unnatural to me

You were missing a lot with the rockets. I hit a cruiser with Rhein rockets and got 5 cits on 1 pass. Going after DD's with torps seems very inefficient. An odd battle to watch
