I'm 21 years old and i watched Gone with the wind for the first time last week. I already know that it will be my favourite movie of all time till the day i die. Theres nothing else like Rhett and Scarlett's love

I am 67 now. Read the book at 16 and saw the film for the first time at 17. Gratifying to see the tortured love story of Scarlett and Rhett still drawing young people in. The performances of Clark Gable and especially, Vivien Leigh are mesmerizing and timeless. Ironically, it was my love of the book and the film that eventually sparked my interest in the Civil War, Reconstruction and Jim Crow. The Civil Rights movement occurred during my childhood and I was able to more clearly see the progression of America's quest for "a more perfect union."

Scarlet was a terrible person

@@marilynwagers786 Many would agree, but I still rooted for her. Vivien Leigh carried the book with her constantly, so she could try to give some context to Scarlett's shallow and despicable acts. Margaret Mitchell gave each character his/her psychological due. One often forgets that Scarlett was 16 and Rhett was 33 when they met.

@@marilynwagers786 Scarlett is a rare character, in that she did some truly awful things, but is universally loved. She was self centered, immature and not someone you would choose to be around in real life. But yet, you find yourself rooting for her. That really shows what a fantastic writer Margaret Mitchell was. How many other stories do you know of where the main character had so many non redeeming qualities, yet you continuously found yourself hoping she would succeed? Not only that, but she will go down in history as one of the top characters of any novel. Margaret Mitchell was amazing at her craft :)

I think in the end he probably did come back to her. There is that saying that a man can only take so much before he says forget it, but he really did love her, and she really loved him too at the end. I think she could have saved him from walking out if she wouldn't have answered his question about what else Melly said before she died. "Taking care of Ashley" should have never been mentioned.

Quels beaux artistes ces deux là !!! Ils étaient merveilleusement beaux. Des artistes commes eux, il n'y en a plus. C'est dommage. ♥️♥️♥️
That’s a high value man. After a person keeps mistreating you and unappreciative of you, then walk away. There are plenty of more beautiful people out who are stable and appreciative. Or it’s better to be alone than to have that kind of albatross around your neck.

Possibly the lack of proposal, ring, license, ceremony with vows, and honeymoon threw me off. I'm not aware you can own a person by watching their videos. Whew. Yep. It is a strange world.

In MY cannon of this movie, *as soon as* Bonnie says she’s going to jump with her pony, Scarlett screams at her not to try the jump because her own pa died in a fall. Rhett then realizes that he must stop Bonnie before it’s too late and *immediately* runs after Bonnie, grabbing her off the pony before she’s able to attempt the jump…A few days later news comes that Melanie is ill. After she passes away, Scarlett apologizes to Rhett and he reluctantly agrees to give her another chance. Scarlett sells the lumber mill and wows to become a better wife. Then after a month or two, they head off on their second honeymoon, bringing along Bonnie and Mammy. Scarlett gets pregnant again and has a son. Then a couple years later has another baby. Scarlett, Rhett, and their children live happily ever after ☺️
