You had to stay in a locals house with the family. Did you try the butter tea and sampa bread? It was so cold they heated water in a kettle for you bath and your hair froze right away. Did you go to the temple built into the cliffs with the huge walls of padmi stones on the way up? The apricot kernels tasted like almonds. No bitterness at all. I hope you had a good time there. Yes the altitude is hard to used too. There is a bus that goes to Manali from there. It takes two days try it. Om shanti shanti Om!

What you said about Ladakh can also be said about Arunachal on the North Eastern end of the HImalayas, except in both places you will find non-Hindus speaking perfect Hindi because they are Indian! It's a complex border and I don't wanna talk about the India-China border conflict because that inevitably brings angry people to comment on how wrong I am and stuff like that. Geographically, the mountains you see are the Zanskar range and maybe the Karakoram, depending on how high you've climbed, the HImalayas (geographically speaking ) lie between Ladakh and Kashmir, so technically you are on an adjunct of the Tibetan plateau!!! Culturally, Vajrayana Buddhism and Indian Tantric/Shaktism practices are and have been culturally linked for over a thousand years easy! PS: Have Rhett go to the monastery to meditate and chill if you can, ask your local hosts about the prayer times and I'm sure both of you will find some inner space to get over the drawbacks you've had in the recent past as you let go of it psychically and spiritually. Our mountain ranges have given millions of Indians spiritual strength through the ages given the majesty, stolidity and beauty they signify and I'm sure that if you immerse yourself in the local spiritual way of practice for the next few days (given that it comes from years of developing in the local context as a way to assuage anyone's troubles, since that's what spirituality is actually for!) I am sure both of you will come out stronger together!!! Wishing you all the best!

Hey guy's, Hope you both are healthy and happy it's really very awkward moment when you hear "it's not like India" Let me tell you one thing Take two maps one of whole world And second of only India Now choose the type of nature course scenic beauty, mountains riverfalls , sand dessert, snow dessert, landscape forest ('tropical forest, rainforest,or pine forest oak forest ') Anything you can think of Undoubtedly don't choose any specific country to travel "just travel all the state's of India " You will get the world here Why do you think India is motherland and heart of 140 crore people Give a thought on that 😅 And please i request 🙏 you on behalf of 140 crore people of India Don't fell prey of west media" Indian's are very emotional for their motherland" an Indian in time of demand can sacrifice his /her life for there motherland without giving a single thought of thier own mother or family. So don't say "it doesn't looks like India " 🇮🇳 Jai Hind 🇮🇳 vande Mataram 🇮🇳

I went there for 10 days last September.. We just had a day to acclimatize but luckily for me , out of our group of 4 friends, I didn't have any problem on any day.. If you are working out, doing yoga continuously before going to ladakh then it's gonna be alright. Even at khardungla, rest 3 passed out while I managed to climb the hillock above the road there.. Eat right, eat less, drink water, avoid alcohol, enjoy the journey and have some chocolates and chewing gums , they help... Diamox, when needed is the go to medicine. ✌✌ enjoy

India is not a homogeneous country like in west, The language, cultural practices, foods, belief system everything changes from one region to another. That's what makes it great, even Indians get cultural shock travelling from one region to another.

We don't have a lot ATMs across the country because we choose to pay digitally through QR codes so there's actually no need of ATMs to withdraw the physical cash money to pay even the road side tea vendor because they also accept digit payments Fun fact: largest amount of digital transaction and biggest worth of digital transaction of about $40 Billion happened in India last year.

@@RhettandClaire Apps are there like Paytm , Google Pay , Phone Pe, etc and they accept all the cards like Visa, Master card, Rupay(Indian one), etc. Best for foreigners is Google Pay. Recharge your wallet with what amount of money you want, scan QR codes and pay. I wonder, if you guys have seen a lot of QR codes in the country; those all are for payments.

It doesn't feel like India huhh So what do you guys think what india feels like, slum or just chaotic places, poor people, no different landscape, butter chicken masala, chai tea, bread naan 🙄 India is not like other countries where anywhere you go it's all the same Here in India every state has its own coustom, culture, food, So plz stop saying "it doesn't feel like India"😅 Actually what do you think when we say 'unity in diversity'

0:12: when foreign tourists say "it doesnt feel like India at all"...is like steorotyping someone just the way they have known them with their meagre knowledge.India is 7th largest country in world with 6 seasons, such diverse geographical terrains- deserts-hot&cold, wetlands, plateaus, moutains, oceans, great plains; multitude of languages, cultures all across its 28 states spanning "approx" 3k kms North to S& W to E .India is way way more than west media potrays only population, heat & slums only if they took time to explore its vast stretch to find out that there cannot be just 1 way u to perceive diverse India. Nice video though showcasing beautiful Himalayas.

actually India is a mini world. each Indian state is different to other. when Indians go outside of the state to a new state in the country it seems like a different country to them. before these you have only been to the cities of India. when you go to towns and villages you would see the real culture of the country.

Hey Rhett and Claire as of now you guys are in India. I would suggest you guys to Go to Ayodhya on the occasion of Diwali the festival of lights as Ayodhya is the birthplace of lord Ram and the place where the world famous (Dipotsava is organised it's a great laser and candle show along side the Holy Saryu(Ghaghra) River. Where the Chief Minister starts the show and it's a state fare where 9 lakh (900,000)diyas(Lamp of oil and made up of clay were lighted creating a world record) and a bunch of amazing places in the town. It's on 23rd of October. In the Evening. Love your videos guys
