Hi Steve, Thanks so much for this update. I assumed it would be a new cut but it's good to get confirmation from Kevin. I did order this one as I do not have any other pressing of it. After I ordered I had a slight feeling that maybe I should have searched out an earlier cut, perhaps Kevin's, but I already had a shipping notice it was on the way! They didn't waste any time lol. Hope it's packed better than the last round!

There is nothing wrong with the original. They could of picked something better to reissue I think. Great Video!!!😅

They couldn't find something better? So many titles in their catalog.

The old issue was cut at Acoustech, which was a facility situated inside of RTI. Kevin’s Cohearant studio is much better technology. The new cut will sound much better than the 2008 issue he cut at Acoustech (KPG@ATM in the dead wax).

Kevin also confirmed on one of our chats with him that his system has gone through many changes and improvements since then as well so a new remaster will likely be better as well from him.

I agree it would make no sense to simply regurgitate previous cuts for this new series of 'high-fidelity' (and premium priced) releases. I do have to question why they are recycling titles that already have fantastic reissues available, they could offer some more 'creative' selections.

I think it was Kevin who mentioned in one of his interviews that new cuts are often done when a different pressing plant is going to be used from the previous editions. Apparently the stamper plates can be slightly different depending on the type of press being used, different plants have different machines, and sometimes the stampers are not universally interchangeable, that's my understanding.

I ordered it. Today I also finally got around to listening to my Rhino Cars and "A/B"d it with the 1st pressing. The Rhino is very similar to the original, with a bit more "boom". in the bass. I prefer the OG, but the Rhino has super quiet vinyl going for it. Makes it an even tie I think. I hope the Van Morrison is as good.

Thanks for the clarification on the mastering of The High Fidelity Series. Much appreciated! Were you able to find out if Rhino will be using a new, protective style mailer for shipping these new High Fidelity Series releases? There were many unhappy customers, me included, that received records with damaged jackets, due to the inadequate shipping mailers that Rhino used for the initial releases. Thank you!

They never seem to ship despite ordering weeks ago

I'm really not clear on these releases. If they are the green lable put out by Warner then they sound as dead as a rock. If it is a different release, I've heard the same said about it.

Really wish they’d do The Smiths or at least focus on rock titles for a while… we don’t need one jazz with every single batch of two. There are a trillion audiophile labels out there which have the jazz genre pretty well covered; Rhino could really carve out their own niche by focusing on other genres for the HiFi series. Rock, classic pop, 80s and 90s titles, disco, funk, psychedelia, garage… just no more jazz!

Rhino did a great reissue years ago. Won't be buying this.
