// 2023 CHANNEL UPDATE //
I’ve moved on from Mobility Mastery (self fascia release) in order to focus on teaching Kinetix, my method of root cause discovery for pain and dis-ease that involves partner fascia release as a “diagnostics” (and regeneration) tool. Kinetix is a complete scientific methodology that I teach to friends, partners and professionals alike inside The Kinetix Academy.
My other primary focus will be the launch and growth of a new podcast and Substack community called The Human Freedom Project.
// NEW CONTENT ON KZfaq //
Sometime in 2023 I will return to KZfaq with HFP podcast episodes and content created to help you know and understand yourself as a whole organism made of body, soul and spirit. This content will feature the Kinetix methodology, pain science, fascia secrets I’ve learned from 15+ years in private practice, neuroscience and evolving beyond the brain, trauma and the body, and more! I’m excited to go on this new adventure with you.
********** // VIDEO DESCRIPTION // *********
IMPORTANT: Please consider doing some other upper body techniques FIRST, before you choose this one. I know, I know...it’s SO tempting to go straight to these knots, because they ache and they have your attention every day and this is one of the few techniques that feels pretty GOOOOOD….and: your back, from a fascial perspective, is actually getting overstretched most of the time, which is WHY there are so many knots in there.
I highly encourage you to address the shortened, contracted, understretched tissue first. That means your biceps, chest, SCMs and scalenes.
After you do the front side of your body, enjoy this rhomboid and trap release to your heart’s content :)
It’s best to follow along on this one - words won’t do it justice. Watch, follow along and let me know how it feels after you do this one.
Happy Holidays!

Thank you for this. It’s definitely my problem area. I checked my chest area and that felt fine. I have constant issues with my neck and migraines so I will check out your KZfaqs on the neck; but I think this is my major area from weight lifting as well as being an oil painter who stands and holds my arm outstretched for hours. Thanks Alicia!

Like gr8fulgirl7 and Mary Crawford I really need this one. It;s the only thing that comes near to helping the tension headaches. I find lifting up helps me most and the arm across the body gets the crunch.This one was a great reminder to do the lats first. I still do all the movements too fast. Not because I want it over and done with, I just do. So really need to work on going slower. Great video. A bit late getting to it. Thank you.

Thanks ~ I have exactly what you’ve described here. Rounded tight shoulders have caused imbalances in my mid and upper back. I have a question about adhesion release. My subscap has been adhered to my lower trap. ( Diagnosed by my massage therapist). I think I may have felt a release recently. you always mention the “clunk” ~ I was stretching my upper back and scapula and felt a long tearing/ crunchy sensation. If it made a sound I would have described it as a crunchy/ crinkly sound. Does this sound like a possible release?

It's possible the "crunch" adhesions in this area between your scapula, spine and ribs, but I'm unsure if it's releasing it or just scraping it as the bones move. Your body will tell you when you're doing fascia release well with better range of motion, more light/fluid movement, less pain. In your case you want to figure out WHY your subscap is adhered to your lower trap (likely due to compensation, stabilizing a shoulder that became destabilized somehow). What I see in a lot of people is massive fascial restriction of the inner biceps line leading to inhibition of the subscap muscle and then a lockdown of the rotator cuff, which would mean what you're describing or compensation by other muscles in that region too. But it can also be caused by hip instability.

What if I have areas in thoracic spine between shoulders and further down that are too flat so thoracic spine is being forced forward and can’t release into flexion?

Even more reason to focus on your FRONT and side body fascia - abdominals, lats, rear deltoid, chest, front deltoid, SCMs, scalenes.

Gentle reminder that not all people who identify as a woman have breasts, and not all people with breasts identify as a woman. To say "if you have breasts" instead of "if you're a woman" suffices just fine -- and won't risk alienating viewers. 🙂
