My parents are gone now for a few years. I wish I knew this and the Quran then. They were good people. I was young and not so good.

"Allah never changes the condition of a people unless they strive to change themselves" (Quran 13:11)

if someone doesnt have a good relationship with their parents for whatever reason, may Allah ease your hardship and soften your heart, i want to say, it is especially important to respect your parents in these difficult circumstances, why? because often the problems we face in adult life comes from our experiences as children, and if we do not choose forgiveness and mercy, especially for the two people closest to us, then we will end up with hardened hearts and a skewed, scary or untrusty worldview. often this is why humans will turn scornful, ill meant, or even worse, into people who will do real harm to others. to turn away from this, the first person you need to make peace with is yourself, know that to know (understand) Allah is to know (understand) yourself, like the prophet Muhammad saw said. the second person to make peace with is your mother, and third your father. know that this will set you free and change the way you see the world inshallah. alhamdulillah for this video, i deal with a difficult father who i try advising sometimes, but now i understand as you said, i will refrain even if i have the urge to mention Allah for the sake of not upsetting my father, may Allah guide him ya Rabb

That's an amazing reminder, Jazak Allahu Khairan, Akhy! I do have a question, though: how is it possible to take care of your parents in their elderly age when you are living in a separate house with your wife? I am still not married yet, but the majority of women want to live separately from their husband's family. In my case, I am the one and only son. I would love to take care of my parents and actually live with them because they helped me a lot growing up and untile now they pray for my success. Jazak Allahu Khairan!
