Visual representation of Nas's first verse on "N.Y. State of Mind." Classic verse with a dense rhyme scheme and dope storytelling. I also love how he variates his line breaks and doesn't end every sentence at the end of a line.
This is a series of vids highlighting the art of rhyming. There are a few factors that make a dope verse but this series focuses on creative rhyme schemes. It's more than just music, this is poetry.

I copped this cassette on the day that it dropped. I went to like 3 different stores because it was sold out at the first two. After I copped it, I immediately popped it into my Sony walkman and it must've took me 20 minutes to listen to this song, because I kept rewinding the hot lines so much. I normally like to let a new album play all the way through with no skips, FFs or rewinds, but NY State of Mind blew my freakin' head wide open. I couldn't believe what I had just heard.

I understand what your doing. In that its logical and tangible. But I believe you should make clear that, those who intend to learn how to put together stanzas of properly timed lyrics that really rhyme. Then, they are crippling themselves by reading highlighting and studying nas, or anyother g.o.a.t-eske emcee's written rhyme structure. If they are going to study them for lessons on how to. It should be done by EAR not by SIGHT. This will encourage them to create there own style and stucture while learning swing, pitch, and timing from the entire collabo of nas and Premo or other produces and nas.
