Because the primary language in the US happens to be English, so they chose to adapt the songs into English (and did an excellent job of it) to ensure that US audiences had a similar experience to that of Japanese audiences. The game was not intended to be a demonstration of foreign music. It would make zero sense for them to leave the songs in a language only a meager fraction of the audience could understand.

I know you probably think "speaking rice" is a funny joke, but it's actually pretty insensitive and still doesn't really even make sense. I honestly don't understand the whole "Lol, asians = rice!" thing. It just happens to be their main grain. It would be like a Japanese person that doesn't understand English saying "I don't speak corn", or "I don't speak wheat".

Honestly, I prefer the Japanese version more because I can't understand the lyrics. Considering how cheesy the lyrics are in English, I prefer to hear it in the language I don't understand.
