I met a kid who was blind. His mother, desperately looking for something to enhance his senses, was asking people to tell her something to entertain him. I approached her, and recommended her a videogame console. She said his kid was blind, but he could still hear, so i recommended her a Nintendo DS with Rhythm Heaven. I sat down with that kid, and while he played, i helped him. We manage to get to Remix 10 and he completed it Superb first try. Technique: Karate Man: Say "Ready" when he punched the lightbulb Turnnip: Say "Turnip" or "Mole" one beat behind. Cheerleaders: Say "3, 2, 1" to alert him when to release Shoot-em' up: Alert him that it will change to Lockstep in the 4th beat Airboarders: Alert him to hold it for Glee Club Fill robots: Tell him what robot is coming Photographer: Making a bit so he can take the pictures correctly on beat The Rest: He did it on his own. We completed the game on a 4 hour airplane ride. The kid develop an interest in music, since then, and he's learning to play piano. Basically saying, Rhythm Heaven changed a blind kid's life.

The transition from the space shooter to lockstep is pure genius.

I love how Lockstep just annihilates the bitrate.

i love how the last target at 1:35 is the head of one of the lockstep boys to signal that lockstep's next and that by shooting it you've already done the first input of the lockstep part

TBH, this game would probably be perfect on a phone.

I've noticed that in all the games with one male and one female character, the player always controls the female. Moai Doo-Wop, Love Lab, Love Lizards (in practice, it says that females rub their tails on their backs), Rockers... The only games where you don't play as the female character are Fan Club (maybe the monkeys are female, though), Frog Hop, and Drummer Duel. I wonder if that's intentional.

My Review: A great way to end off the game. Remix 10 makes for a great recap of every level, and it's nice and difficult like the last stage should be. I always enjoy that Lockstep transition, with the Stepswitcher head as one of the Shoot-'Em-Up enemies. Although the Love Lizards and Big Rock Finish parts kind of stink. They're way too fast and hard, and I rarely get them right. Still a great level. 9/10

This likely won’t be seen, but I love how most of the games are in groups so that your fingers can naturally transition to the next game. For example, most tap only games are bundled together, but with tap and slide games as a bridge so you can adjust on the fly. Same goes for slide games to tap games, and same with the hold games, each group has a gap game so you know what’s coming next, and how the games connect with the beats, like with Shoot Em Up to Lockstep, or Glee Club to Fillbots, so you’re set up for the next game if you’re doing it well,it’s amazing.

It amazes me how they make you have the correct position for the next game, like making you hold the stylus down before glee club. And the little "AAAAAaaaaaaaa" right after that segment was an adorable transition too.

This game changed my life. My aunt bought an old DS with some games on it and the she was playing this weird game of two Moais screaming and she told me to do it bcs she was bad at it to. I failed but I found it fun so i kept playing and, after 7 years of playing this games i have improved my sense of rhythm a lot and i find music more enjoyable. This games will always have a place on my heart and especially that fcking cosmic rally because of how hard it was to perfect.

The karate man parts of this remix are so god damn good

The reason why the og rhythm heaven on the DS will always be superior. I personally feel like the way you physically had to tap or flick your stylus on the screen made the game so much more of a challenge to get the timing right, as opposed to just pressing buttons.
