One of Australia’s most celebrated and record breaking Touring Cars. The Origins of this car go back to late 1979. The vehicle was constructed in November - December 1979 by the Marlboro Holden Dealer Team (MHDT) under the guidance of John Sheppard. The original specification of the car was a VB model and first seen testing at Calder Raceway in Mid December 1979. The vehicle first ran without guard flares, a makeshift front air dam and was also fitted with an A9X bonnet scoop. Being the first Commodore Group C built, it was used to develop and produce the “race and homologation specification” for the CAMS.

Car was repaired painted white and raced again. This car was replaced with another VH so this particular car has nothing to do with Brock unless the original repaired VB found

That’s cool. My Dad prepared that particular car for Bathurst in 84 as the Northern Territory/Fox FM car for Wayne Clift and Bernie Stack.

Took a picture of that car at Amaroo top of the hill got a poster print done and signed by John Harvey MHDT sill have it Drivers read Harvey Brock Edit, I have the Special Mild version on negative with John Harvey autograph

Tell you what, i am having some serious thoughts of finding a set of jong bloeds and flares and giving my VB a paintjob to emulate this thing.

? They never ran Ford nine inches in Holden's in group C

@@shaneobrien148 no mate They did not race with 9" in Holden's in group C, it wasn't within the rules to do so, and it's pretty easy for an official to look under the car and see a 9" diff.

The first Holden to win Bathurst with a 9 inch was Allan Grice/Bailey in a group A VK commodore.

@@ebfalc considering cars in group c and group A had to be homologated and the parts as well and no VK group A road car came out with a 9" I find this hard to believe and you certainly can't fit a 9" crown wheel into a sailsbury or Borg Warner housing. I've heard this discussion going on before where someone even claimed the early toranas ran 9" in a banjo housing, great story. The grace car from 86 is at Bathurst I'll have to have a look under it but a lot of those cars were raced later and modified so people see it and assume its original.
