The plans for Rice University’s ApolloBVM, an open-source emergency ventilator design that could help patients in treatment for COVID-19, are now online and freely available to everyone in the world.
The project first developed by students as a senior design project in 2019 has been brought up to medical grade by Rice engineers and one student, with the help of Texas Medical Center doctors. The device costs less than $300 in parts and can squeeze a common bag valve mask for hours on end.

Linear rails, metal rack and pinions, high torque servos... Unfortunately I don't see this thing becoming popular, it needs to be simplified further.

what is needed there is a sensor that detekts when the patient takes a breath.

Yeah nah ! Try using a motor pulley on weight that squashes the bladder and returns up . Far less moving loud parts !

That is too large a pressure! You only need 0.2 N on a 0.1 m radius balloon!

how did you calculated that?

@@shivanshuprajapati6505 It's a long history but a standard hydro-dynamical calculatition fits to these figures. Look aftermy linked-in network and we can discuss it in an appropriate manner

@Alex %oool those tasks can be easily made with 1 arduino, but requires just a bit knowledge to do it.

@@institutonovadent9817 what's the point that you don’t see me making any invent like this? that doesn't mean i don't do it, or even way more complex systems

arduino is cheap enough, there is an arduino clone with different chip, it is too cheap. reducing to one arduino task has low priority.

Not only awful design, but really dangerous.
