Every NFL team is a marketing company. The reason you think the Cowboys are somehow the only one just shows how much better Jerry Jones is at what he does. They've also put together a team that's gone 12-5 three straight yrs so they "just happen to play football" ok as well. They choke every yr but don't hate Jerry for doing his job better than everyone else. Dak and Romo are chokers but Jerry set them up to win.

The Niners have been a very good running team since Shanahan has been there because of the exact same reasons. They have built a very good offensive line. Shanahan had backs who weren’t high draft picks before CMC who did great in his system. CMC just took them to another level. The Cowboys should have drafted an offensive lineman in the first or second round last year. They should have signed a higher quality free agent instead of bargain bin shopping with Edoga. Unless McCarthy learns how to design run plays for this decade, it’s all pointless because he was atrocious this season. Come on you’re lower the intelligence level of Niner fans. Going all in doesn’t kill a franchise for long these days. It’s not that hard to recover from if a team is smart. Just look at the Rams. They did something the Niners haven’t been able to do in 30 years by going all in and giving up a bunch of 1st round picks. Yet they’re back because they traded Ramsey and drafted well later in the draft.

Paying your QB 60 mill requires him to be a one-man army like a Mahomes, Marino, elway, etc. Those were actually elite QBs! Dak is not a one-man army much less part of a squadron that he can carry. Even with all the right pieces in place including coaches he doesn't have the intangibles to get you over the hump and win in big games. Beating up on bad teams and losing to good teams while choking in the playoffs isn't my definition of elite Rich

Yea he is but if he wasn’t surrounded by so much talent the Niners wouldn’t be this good. They have one of the best offensive lines. One of the best tight ends. One of the best wide receiver groups. And they have one of the best and most creative offensive coaches in the league. Adding Henry to the Cowboys won’t change much with how bad their run blocking is and how bad their coaching is with running the ball.

They had the players necessary to win it all. They don't have a coaching culture for winning. They have a coaching culture for flattering the owner. This has been true since Jimmy Johnson was shown the door. Parcells wasn't able to coach and put energy into Jones too, especially at his age, so he moved on. McCarthy is perfect for making Jones feel good. However he barely understands the QB position, much less the 22 moving pieces on every play.

Doing the same thing but expecting different results... That "Cowboys cycle" meme isn't a meme anymore, it's the truth. Same coach/OC, same DC, same QB equals the same season as the last three, 11-13 wins (mostly against bad teams), hype builds that it's their year and then collapse in the wildcard or divisional round. Nice positive projection of what could be in Dallas, but face it, no matter who is added to The Cowboys, it is always going to be, "Jerry". He wants to be the one that makes Dallas a champion. I have a lot of respect for Rich but this idea that Derrick Henry is going to fix the Cowboys running problems is dumb. Just listen to what Rich said about Mahomes and the Chiefs as an example. Pacheco was a 7th round draft pick. He’s proof that you don’t need to invest in a top running back free agent or high draft pick. What a team needs is to invest in their offensive line and coaching scheme to run the damn ball. The Cowboys running problems are because of the bad blocking and play designs. Derrick Henry isn’t going to change that. It’s mind boggling that Rich is focused on doing exactly what the Cowboys don’t need to do. Zeke being gone wasn’t the problem.
@ddwooten1028

It’s not about fewer throws. Goff was 2nd in the NFL in pass attempts overall and 3rd in pass attempts per game. It’s about physical presence and dominance on offense. The Dallas Cowboys lack physicality on both sides of the ball. You have to be able to smash a defense in the face and make defenders “make a business decision” on if it’s wise to engage a tackle. Derrick Henry gives you that. Tony Pollard does not. I like Tony. He’s an excellent change-of-pace back. Always has been. But he is not going to run defenders over. They have to have that to be a viable playoff team. On defense, they need an enforcer at linebacker, safety, or both. Someone to fly in and bang bodies and make receivers see ghosts over the middle. That player has to be in addition to Micah Parsons. You want Parsons to be like a Closer in baseball. Swoop in and slam the door on a drive. Well, every great closer needs a great set up man, and Dallas does not have one. Get Patrick Queen. Get a thumper in the middle, and the defense becomes a viable playoff defense. Think about it. The 4 championship round teams all had physical run games and enforcers in the middle of the field. Just saying.

@@DavidC-pg6ni That may be so. His age might be an issue. Whatever the case, Dallas NEEDS a more physical rush attack to be a viable playoff contender. Trading Dak. I can’t necessarily disagree. The problem is, it’s virtually impossible to do. Can’t franchise him. Can’t cut him without a $59 million dead money hit. Has a no-trade clause. In salary cap hell if they don’t extend him. No quarterback waiting in the wings ready to take over if he leaves. Dallas signed a “prenup” so to speak; so now they’re hitched to Dak whether they like it or not. Now it’s about mitigating his lack of self confidence in the playoffs by any means necessary.
